About the Opportunity

A leading multi-site gaming and racing entertainment organization is seeking a Senior Director of Finance to oversee all financial operations across two high-volume properties. These properties include live racing, gaming operations, dining, and entertainment amenities. The Senior Director of Finance will provide financial leadership, ensure regulatory compliance, strengthen internal controls, and drive operational and financial performance.

This is a high-impact role responsible for accounting, financial analysis, cash operations, revenue audit, purchasing, and compliance. The ideal candidate is an experienced financial leader with exceptional analytical skills, a hands-on leadership style, and prior experience in gaming, hospitality, racing, or related high-volume environments.

Job Summary

The Senior Director of Finance leads all financial functions across the organization's two properties. This includes oversight of accounting, financial planning & analysis, revenue audit, cash operations, purchasing, compliance, and financial reporting. The role ensures accurate financial results, strong internal controls, and full adherence to regulatory requirements, while providing strategic support and financial decision-making to property leadership.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities Financial Leadership & Oversight
  • Lead all financial operations across both properties, including accounting, FP&A, revenue audit, and cash operations.

  • Ensure accurate, timely preparation of financial statements aligned with established accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance with gaming and state regulations.

  • Manage external and internal audits to ensure financial accuracy and operational integrity.

Team Leadership
  • Oversee managers and supervisors within the finance, revenue audit, and operations support teams.

  • Provide coaching, performance feedback, and training to ensure team members meet performance and reporting expectations.

  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing work culture with strong communication and team morale.

  • Maintain strong interpersonal relationships with internal staff and external stakeholders.

Financial Planning & Analysis
  • Lead development of financial models, long-term forecasting, and operational analytics.

  • Analyze monthly financial results and oversee the preparation of monthly forecast updates.

  • Develop annual operating budgets and financial plans for the properties.

  • Provide financial modeling and decision support for capital investments, pricing, vendor negotiations, and sponsorships.

  • Partner with corporate finance and property leadership to identify cost reductions and improve efficiencies.

Accounting & Financial Controls
  • Oversee property-level accounting, reporting, and purchasing processes.

  • Ensure the finance team leverages current accounting tools and technologies for improved efficiency.

  • Maintain strong treasury and cash-related controls for high-volume cash operations.

  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, including licensing, tax calculations, and compliance matters.

  • Optimize purchasing operations in partnership with corporate procurement teams.

Operational Support
  • Review departmental financial performance with operational leaders to identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement.

  • Work closely with the General Manager and leadership team to align operational and financial performance.

  • Refine operational and financial metrics to ensure consistent performance management.

  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support property operations.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting.

  • Advanced analytical and financial modeling abilities.

  • Demonstrated success leading and developing diverse financial teams.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior leadership.

  • High level of integrity, work ethic, and ability to build positive working relationships.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Word).

  • Experience with financial systems such as SAP and/or JD Edwards.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain gaming/racing licensure and meet regulatory suitability requirements.

  • Willingness to work in a dynamic, high-volume gaming environment with exposure to varying noise levels and smoking areas.

Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

  • Master's degree and/or CPA strongly preferred.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial accounting, financial reporting, and analysis.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience leading a finance department.

  • Experience in gaming, racing, hospitality, or casino financial operations strongly preferred.

  • Experience in cash management, budgeting, treasury, and cost accounting required.

  • Experience in guest-facing or customer service environments preferred.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout large facilities.

  • Ability to lift/push/pull items as required.

  • Work involves circulating through gaming areas, including designated smoking areas.

  • Noise levels may vary from moderate to loud.
