Founded by Detroit philanthropists George and Ellen Booth in 1904, Cranbrook Educational Community is one of the world's leading centers of education, science, and art. The Director of Parent Programs is responsible for directing Cranbrook's Parent Programs which include Parent's Council, Bravo, Booster Club, and Dad's Clubs. The Director collaborates with the Directors of The Cranbrook Schools Fund, Alumni Relations, and Major Gift Officers to help identify, analyze and review prospective donors to determine the effective solicitation processes, and manages and oversees programs and events for these constituents.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:



  • Recruit, train, support, and manage parent volunteers.
  • Direct the activities of the Parent's Council, Bravo, Booster Club, and Dad's Club.
  • Plan, manage and implement gatherings throughout the year including but not limited to:

    • Annual School Gala
    • Parent cultivation, recognition and stewardship events


  • Conduct annual, personal visits with current parents, grandparents, or parents of alumni for cultivation and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with School Division Heads and Department Heads to identify, develop, and implement mission affirming parent programming.
  • Collaborate with the Directors of The Cranbrook School Fund, Alumni Relations, and Major Gift Officers to assist in the development of an annual fundraising plan for parents.
  • Attend various Advancement functions including but not limited to Parents Weekend, Homecoming, Reunion, holiday parties, and area receptions.


Supervisory Responsibilities: The incumbent will supervise an Administrative Assistant.

Requirements:



  • A Bachelor's degree is required along with a minimum of three years of strong administration background demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility. Development experience is preferred.
  • Experience in event coordination and volunteer management.
  • Must be able to work and communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with a broad range of internal and external constituents including faculty, staff, students, parents, and friends of Cranbrook School.
  • Must be able to work independently as well as within a team, solve problems, handle confidential information, and navigate sensitive situations.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills, creativity and attentiveness to detail is required.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; ability to create mail merges, complex spreadsheets, and maintain and run Development reports.
  • Knowledge and experience working with databases, preferably the Blackbaud/Raiser's Edge platform.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality and to interact professionally with parents and colleagues.
  • Willing to work occasional evening and weekend hours.
  • Requires a valid Michigan driver's license with satisfactory driving record.
