Under the direction of the Dean, develops and teaches concepts and strategies for a variety of courses. May require teaching courses at MATC campuses, business, community, other sites, and online during the day, evening, and/or weekend. Related duties include participation in department and advisory meetings, department and college functions, course and curriculum development in both traditional and non-traditional formats, staff development, conduct open labs (if/when necessary), student advising, student outcome assessment and quality review assessment and implementation, student organization involvement, recruitment and retention of students, and other duties as assigned. Required to keep current with the latest trends and technologies in discipline.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

- Act as a liaison between MATC and professional practice sites, working to establish new relationships to meet ongoing professional practice experience needs.
- Assist in the creation of clinical/preceptor/field placements contracts.
- Assure student compliance with safety, criminal background check, CPR, and health requirements (using a third party platform).
- Communicate frequently with key stakeholders (i.e., clinical facility coordinator, professional practice experience (clinical) instructors, MATC administration, MATC students, and program coordinator).
- Coordinate clinical placement (e.g., compliance activities, orientation, preparing clinical materials, communication to key stakeholders) and assure clinical facility is suitable for student experiences (e.g., visits and reviews faculty/student feedback).
- Prepare for and deliver instruction and perform teaching-related activities.
- Manage the classroom/laboratory.
- Develop curriculum and monitor and revise as appropriate to maintain course effectiveness; assist in program/department evaluation.
- Manage equipment, supplies and materials.
- Assess student performance
- Advise students on academic issues.
- Collaborate with advisory committee in program/department area.
- Attend departmental and institutional meetings.
- Promote the education/training program/department, participate in efforts to recruit and retain students, and participate in efforts to promote educational opportunities at MATC.
- Support student organizations and activities. Develop relationships with business and industry.
- Complete program/department evaluation and follow-up.
- Maintain certification, continue professional development and stay current in field.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
-
Must have one (1) of the following:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Imaging or any health-related discipline with a certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

- Bachelor's Degree in any discipline with an Associate's Degree (AAS/AA) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Medical Imaging, or Health related discipline with a certificate in Diagnostic Medical Sonography.

- Associate's Degree (AAS/AA) in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Medical Imaging and seven (7) years of experience as a Registered Sonographer.
Occupational Experience Requirements: Must have a minimum of two (2) years full-time equivalent (4,000 hours) experience as a registered sonographer. In addition, one of the following must be met:

- Two (2) years of teaching Diagnostic Medical Sonography coursework at the post-secondary level within the last five (5) years.
One (1) year of teaching experience equivalent to two (2) semesters full-time or four (4) semesters part-time.- Per State of Wisconsin Legislature Administrative Code TCS3.04 Industry or Vendor Certification Requirements: Must submit proof of passing the Sonography Principles and Instrumentation Examination (SPI) as administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Licensure: Must hold a current license as a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer with Abdomen (AB) specialty and Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) specialty as administered by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous teaching experience preferred.
- Experience in teaching and/or developing curriculum in a variety of classroom environments including in-person and online.
- Experience using a variety of instructional methods including: face-to-face, blended, and 100% online preferred.
- Must be able to develop and maintain curriculum currency.
- Working knowledge of computers and software related to instructional area including MS Office/Google Suite, data systems, mobile technologies, web conference tools, and social networking; and knowledge of, or willing to learn, Blackboard or similar learning management system (LMS) preferred.
- Knowledge or experience with engaged and service learning strongly required.
- Must be able to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
- Must have knowledge of assessment of student academic competency attainment.
- Must be able to relate successfully with students and staff of different cultural, social and educational backgrounds.

- Online Information Management Systems - Experience with Self-Service or other online information management systems used for student advising, student programs, grading, class schedules and rosters.
- Blackboard Ultra - Experience with Blackboard or other web-based course - management systems.
- Technology-based Instruction - Experience with technology-based instructional delivery systems including SMART symposium, interactive touch screen monitors, LCD projectors, DVD players and/or other classroom technology.
- Emerging Technologies - Experience with emerging technologies (e.g. social networking applications).

Start Date:This position supports the Healthcare Pathway and is available to start January 5, 2026. Hours: 32 hours weekly, in-person, primarily based out of the Downtown Campus. Work is conducted during scheduled course hours, Monday - Friday. Hours vary based on departmental needs.
