Description

The Director of Accounting is responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting, ensuring compliance across all accounting functions, and leading the day-to-day operations of the accounting department. This position supports budgeting, cost analysis, forecasting, and modeling. This is a visible and impactful role, requiring insightful reporting and analytics, along with proactive communication and partnership with VP of Finance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.



  • Prepare timely and accurate monthly financial statements, including variance analysis and executive presentation
  • Lead annual financial audit and financial statement preparation
  • Maintain and enforce accounting policies and procedures in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state and local rules and regulations
  • Ensure records are maintained in accordance with standard accounting principles
  • Research technical accounting issues for compliance
  • Lead external tax reporting preparation
  • Manage daily operations of the accounting department
  • Manage outsourced accounting functions and services
  • Oversee procurement process for organization
  • Manage corporate credit card system
  • Oversee tracking and reporting of capex to budget and project timelines
  • Oversee cash flow forecasting and treasury reporting, ensuring liquidity and covenant compliance
  • Support insurance procurement and reporting
  • Assist with annual budget, forecasting, and modeling
  • Prepare company ad hoc financial analyses
  • Provide coaching and support consistent with company values
  • Other duties as assigned


Additional Responsibilities include the following.



  • Comply with Corporate Safety and department policies and procedures.
  • Attend required safety trainings and meetings; follow all safety and health guidelines, standards, practices, policies, and procedures; and actively participate in the Husky's Emergency Preparedness program and activities

Position requirements

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent

Related experience:

5-7+ years progressive responsibility in accounting or finance

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

Professional accounting designation preferred (CPA, CMA)

  • Strong analytical and technical accounting skills
  • Able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment
  • Able to take on new high-level-of-difficulty tasks
  • Consistently exhibits sound judgment and makes timely decisions
  • Analytical skills with demonstrated ability to work with complex financial information and concepts
  • Communication skills within the financial community and with non-financial personnel
  • Working knowledge of process improvement, continuous improvement, and project management


Technical Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of



  • Thorough working knowledge of GAAP
  • Experience implementing accounting systems and procedures, scaling accounting functions, leading internal/external audits, and managing teams
  • Experience with major ERP, management reporting, and data query tools
