About our group:

Servo Engineering's primary mission is to provide robust ultra-precision position control technologies to enable aggressive advancement in high performance HDD areal density growth. The team also serves a critical HDD Systems role, working closely with and enabling other functions in the disciplines of Mechanical, Electrical, Recording Technology, Tribology, Customer Interface, Manufacturing, and Reliability.

About the role - you will:

  • You will be part of the Servo Electronics Architecture Group and will provide high level design and architecture assistance to enable Seagate's future roadmap.
  • Report to a Servo Director.
  • Be involved with delivery of electronic architecture solutions to enable TPI extendibility, Seagate parallelism, and power reduction initiatives.


  • Provide servo electronics architecture definition for areal density growth
  • Provide servo code architecture solutions to enable Seagate's factory parallelism initiatives
  • Provide architect level guidelines to the global team
  • Provide mentorship to junior colleagues

About you:

  • Lead multiple projects and present to executives

Your experience includes:

  • This candidate should have the knowledge and skillset in the areas that are critical to staging and delivering electronic architecture solutions needed to execute Seagate's roadmap.


  • Emphasis on providing electronics solutions for embedded HDD systems.
  • Advanced signal processing, position control of precision equipment, real-time embedded firmware design, programming in embedded C, Python, and Matlab.
  • This is a highly collaborative position requiring strong communication and technical leadership skills.
  • Intimate knowledge of HDD electronics architecture
  • Intimate knowledge of Servo code architecture for dual SoC and dual power device
  • Intimate knowledge of multi-actuators controls and driving architecture
  • Intimate knowledge of Servo factory calibration process
  • Intimate knowledge of the preamp architecture


  • Technical Problem Solving:

    • Identify technical problems based on design objectives and specs and produce well defined problem statements
    • Solution implementation and validation. Deployment of the solutions in the large-scale factory production.


  • Skills and tools:

    • Programming for embedded systems and real time computing
    • Control systems implementation
    • Matlab + Simulink, C, Python
    • Data collection (Scopes, DAC NI Equipment)


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering related field (i.e. Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Computer Engineering, Materials, Physics, Aerospace or Information Technology) and 12+ years of experience or master's degree in the same and 8+ years' experience or PhD and 5+ years' experience or equivalent experience and education.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $144,164.80 - $210,107.00. The individual salary is based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
