Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the Manager of Digital Software Engineering will help to lead the digital software engineering team for Harley-Davidson across our Omnichannel initiatives. The Manager of Software Engineering will hire and lead new talent into HD, including data engineers, DevOps, and other digital (Software) engineering professionals.

Job Responsibilities



  • Define technical requirements and systems architecture with clarity on feasibility, time, cost, and impact
  • Attract and retain a team of high-performing engineers
  • Establish an engineering culture emphasizing innovation, growth, and development
  • Ensure all internal processes and external services comply with security and privacy regulations
  • Define and implement a consistent and repeatable process for quality assurance across all areas of the organization and product build
  • Identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace, with constant evaluation of technological advancements and innovation to mitigate impediments and drive success.
  • Understand software delivery in a startup environment, balanced with the rigor needed for sustainable and maintainable products.

  • Bachelor's Degree Required



Education Specifications



  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited educational institution in a technical discipline (Computer Science, Electrical Engineering) - M.S. or other advanced degree preferred



Experience Requirements



  • 10+ years architecting & building products from pre-launch through maturity
  • 5+ years in an Engineering Management role with experience in launching digital products.
  • 5+ years leading Software Engineering team
  • Experience scaling products, overseeing their build from MVP to mass scale
  • Experience with building service-based architecture, including the use of micro services frameworks
  • Good understanding of application security and regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge of DevOps and cloud infrastructure services (Azure, AWS, etc.)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - including requirements analysis, debugging, and risk assessment.
  • Hands-on skills in one or more object-oriented programming languages (Java/J2EE preferred)
  • Knowledge of AEM, Headless E-commerce, Java, Node.JS, REST, JSON, HTTP, DevOps tool chains a plus

The pay range shown represents the national average pay range for this role. Your pay may be more or less than the stated range and is dependent on your geographic location and level of experience.
