Position Summary

Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency - with customer satisfaction the primary goal - by supervising, organizing, and training warehouse employees and establishing, monitoring, and managing operational goals. Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations.


Duties And Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL:

  • Supervise daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service.
  • Plan warehouse resources and activities in keeping with the different services groups' objectives and targets.
  • Establish, monitor, improve, and report key business metrics with a focus towards customer satisfaction.
  • Improve warehouse organization / layout to reduce cycle time to receive, pull and ship or issue material.
  • Ensure that workplace's health and safety requirements are met and take responsibility for the proper storage and security of the warehouse building and material.
  • Review and improve department processes to increase productivity to eliminate "waste".
  • Manage reconciliation of in transit accounts for outbound and inbound intra company shipments.
  • Train employees, direct work to the appropriate personnel, conduct performance reviews and address and resolve complaints in accordance with OII's policies and applicable laws.
  • Create, implement, and track Warehouse group activity, measurements, and KPI's.
  • Train and manage the warehouse team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
  • Review and prepare workflows, staffing requirements, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service.
  • Meet regularly with warehouse leads to analyze productivity and develop actionable plans for loss prevention.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Operations, or Supply Chain Management with emphasis in supply chain or business preferred or equivalent work and management experience.
  • Three (3) plus years related experience, or combination of education and experience.
  • Three (3) plus years' experience of Management of a team or business group.
  • Ability to work with cross-cultural organizations and groups.
  • Strong demonstrated critical thinking and logic skills with a proven track record of success in a complex production and assembly LEAN environment.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills.
  • Knowledge of MS Office and PeopleSoft ERP System is a plus.
  • Exceptionally detail-oriented and able to manage multiple facets of warehouse operations simultaneously.

DESIRED:

  • Five (5) plus years related experience, or combination of education and experience.
  • Five (5) plus years' experience of Management of a team or business group.
  • Gas & Oil industry experience preferred.
  • Excellent negotiating, contract management, communication (verbal and written) and organizational skills.
  • Experience in the management of international freight and logistics to include packaging, crating, shipping modes, shipping lanes, customs, insurance and inspections.
  • Familiarization with international standards and surety organizations (ISO, DNV, ABS, USCG).
  • Professional certification from APICS and/or ISM is desirable.
  • Excellent Microsoft office skills required, and PeopleSoft experience preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

This position is considered SHOP/INDOORS WORK which is characterized as follows:

  • Primarily indoors during the day and occasionally at night.
  • Frequently working on or near moving equipment and vibrating equipment.
  • When outdoors, humidity is frequently above 90%.
  • Noise is over 85 decibels.
  • Light is intense/glare.
  • Occasional exposure to open fire/flames/sparks.
  • Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
