Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Project Assistant.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing project/program support for research studies and initiatives in Dr. Nadia Islam's lab. The Project Assistant will provide administrative support related to scheduling appointments and meetings, recruitment and data collection, administering surveys, and entering data. Additional activities include community outreach, support with virtual events/meetings, and development of health promotion and dissemination materials.
Job Responsibilities:
- Project Support - Provides project/program support to PI that includes but is not limited to: updating and formatting documents and presentations; assisting with project planning and implementation; participant recruitment; managing the logistics of and coordinating study visits and/or events and meetings; assisting with project data collection activities; development of project communications and materials, and translations.
- Scheduling and Coordinating - Schedules meetings and appointments, maintains PI calendar, assist in preparing for study visits/events/meetings (checking the logistics and technical support, ordering and setting up food, etc.) and other related duties.
- Reports - Receives, classifies, reconciles and consolidates data. Compiles and prepares routine factual forms and reports based on information readily available, verify information, determines report format, identifies discrepancies and make corrections. Research problems, issues and concerns and responds to requests for information and summarizes data based on information compiled from various sources. Completes literature reviews and may contribute to abstracts/manuscripts/presentations.
- Research Support - Complete all required trainings for participating in human subjects research (e.g., CITI training). Conduct outreach activities to recruit potential participants for all phases of the study. Assists in the creation/translation of culturally specific hand-outs, flyers and other materials. Outreach to community based organizations, faith-based organizations, cultural groups, schools and other community spaces for the project. Foster relationships with community leaders and engage them in project meetings/coalitions.
- Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a High school diploma or equivalent.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office 365
Strong analytical ability, critical thinking, and proactive problem-solving skills
Must be organized, detailed-orientated, dependable and flexible
Have excellent oral/written communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding design and implementation
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree. Strong interpersonal skills: warm, friendly, open, energetic; ability to work well with a wide range of people. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Effective Oral, written communication skills. Basic computer knowledge/skills required (e.g. Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Zoom or online meeting platforms). Familiarity with community outreach strategies and organizations. Strong time-management and organizational skills and ability to work well under pressure. Demonstrated strong connection with faith and community-based organizations is a plus. Strong advocacy and community organizing skills. Proficiency in use of social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, WhatsApp).
Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $23.13 - $23.13 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
