Description
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or equivalent.



  • Five (5) years of experience in heavy aircraft avionics, including two (2) years in a supervisory capacity, or the demonstrated ability to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.



  • Preferred valid Airframe & Powerplant license; minimum of an Airframe or FCC License with appropriate ratings.



  • Must have previous FAA Part 145 Repair Station experience.



  • Proficient in interpreting avionics wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, technical orders, test procedures, and electronic system documentation.



  • Proficient in the use of avionics-specific test equipment and troubleshooting methods for aircraft electrical, navigation, communication, and instrumentation systems.



  • Working knowledge of computer software packages used within the facility.



  • Must demonstrate strong leadership abilities under all circumstances and operating conditions.



  • Must be able to multi-task and manage avionics workflows on multiple aircraft simultaneously.



  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and overtime.



  • Must successfully pass mechanical, structural, and avionics-specific assessments.




Major Responsibility Areas and Duties


  • Provide oversight to ensure avionics maintenance, testing, calibration, and documentation are completed in full compliance with applicable regulations and requirements.



  • Assign avionics maintenance tasks and personnel based on skill sets and workload.



  • Evaluate and estimate avionics maintenance time and cost.



  • Provide oversight and co-sign work performed by uncertificated avionics technicians.



  • Sign documents for the repair station as authorized in the signatory roster.



  • Coordinate avionics maintenance plans with Production, Quality, Engineering, and other supporting departments.



  • Identify training needs, tools, test equipment, and special tooling required for avionics tasks.



  • Ensure responsible avionics technicians properly execute all required work records and documentation.



  • Monitor and update the avionics flow plan as required to maintain schedule.



  • Supervise avionics maintenance performed by uncertificated technicians or personnel unfamiliar with applicable procedures, tools, and equipment.



  • Provide On-the-Job Training (OJT) to avionics crew members as required.



  • Ensure all parts, materials, and avionics components are ordered in a timely manner to maintain workflow.



  • Maintain daily turnover reports for each oncoming shift.



  • Maintain hangar, equipment, and aircraft cleanliness at all times as it relates to avionics work areas.




Additional Duties


  • Perform all other duties as assigned by the Avionics Manager or Production Manager.




Authority


  • Maintains authority over all activities and personnel related to assigned avionics work crews.




Physical Requirements


  • Knowledge of proper protective equipment and safety protocols related to potential exposure to dust, body fluids, chemicals, fumes, vapors, or mists.



  • Knowledge of protective equipment and protocols for handling hazardous materials and electronic components.



  • Knowledge of fall-protection requirements.



  • Ability to withstand exposure to constant or intermittent loud/high noise levels.



  • Ability to maintain close and distance vision, including depth perception needed for detailed avionics work.
