Director of Project Management

Our Director of Project Management will serve as the key leader for strategic, cross-divisional initiatives reporting into the Aftermarket President. You will be accountable for guiding large-scale, high-impact programs from ideation through execution, ensuring alignment with Aftermarket business objectives, delivering measurable outcomes, and providing visibility and governance across initiatives. This is an individual contributor role. You will partner closely with the Aftermarket President, functional leaders (Finance, Operations, IT, Sales, Supply Chain, etc.), and corporate ePMO to translate strategic priorities into project portfolios, oversee execution, and ensure benefits realization.

This is a fully remote position for candidates located in the United States.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy to Execution

  • Lead the maturation of the division's project management framework in alignment with the corporate ePMO roadmap (from tactical delivery to strategic enablement).
  • Maintain critical project lifecycle processes to ensure projects align to strategic priorities, with transparent metrics on value realization, risk mitigation, and benefit delivery.
  • Drive alignment between divisional project plans and enterprise-wide systems (ServiceNow, Power BI, D365, etc.).
  • Translate strategic priorities into a coherent project portfolio, establishing clear objectives, metrics, timelines, dependencies, and success criteria.
  • Facilitate executive forums (e.g. quarterly portfolio reviews, steering committees) to validate alignment, reprioritize, and escalate risks

Portfolio & Program Oversight

  • Lead oversight of cross-functional initiatives from kickoff through close, ensuring consistent methodology, transparency, and accountability.
  • Track and report key metrics (e.g. ROI, schedule variance, risk exposure, benefit realization) for all strategic projects.
  • Coordinate dependencies, resolve cross-team blockers, manage escalations, and maintain portfolio balance (resource, scope, timing).
  • Partner with Finance to model, track, and report on financial benefits, and ensure operational gains are captured and reinvested appropriately.

Process, Governance & Tools

  • Establish and enforce a standardized project lifecycle methodology (charter, stage gates, RACI, milestone reviews, change control).
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, executive reporting tools, and a single source of truth on project status, risks, and benefits.
  • Integrate project tracking and portfolio governance with enterprise systems (e.g. ServiceNow, Power BI, D365) to ensure visibility and data consistency.
  • Define and manage change management practices, stakeholder engagement plans, communications, and training for major initiatives.

Stakeholder Engagement & Communications

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executives and key stakeholders, providing strategic insight, recommendations, and transparency.
  • Lead and manage executive communications (presentations, updates, summaries) to drive alignment, awareness, and decision-making.
  • Facilitate cross-functional alignment and collaboration across business units, proactively anticipating and addressing conflict or risks.

Continuous Improvement & Capability Building

  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the discipline of strategic program management within the Aftermarket organization.
  • Drive lessons-learned reviews, post-implementation benefit tracking, and feedback loops to continuously improve delivery practices.
  • Mentor and influence project leads and stakeholders in adopting best practices, even though no formal direct reports are assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in strategic initiative / program management in a complex, multi-functional environment (e.g. manufacturing, supply chain, operations).
  • Experience managing large-scale transformation or operational excellence initiatives with measurable results.
  • Strong financial acumen; comfortable modeling, tracking, and reporting benefits and ROI.
  • PMP, PgMP, or similar project management certification is preferred; Prosci or change management training desirable.
  • Exceptional executive presence, strong influencing skills, and ability to operate effectively without direct authority.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • High comfort with ambiguity, balancing competing priorities, and driving progress in cross-functional settings.
