Position Description

Performs administrative duties in the management and coordination of a large, specialized project and program. Under general supervision, performs varied and complex administrative duties requiring independent judgment and the application of established policies and procedures. May provide supervision and direction to clerical, paraprofessional or professional staff members.

Major/Essential Functions


  • During absences of departmental Managing Director, serve in primary departmental leadership role.
  • Direct Services to Students: Provide individual, group, and couples therapy. Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Conduct intake interviews. Provide outreach programming.
  • Clinical Supervision to Trainees: Provide clinical supervision to post-doctoral pre-licensed Psychologists.
  • Provide clinical supervision and other training-related activities to doctoral interns and graduate practicum students.
  • Serves as a member of the department's Administrative Team, which entails weekly meetings and coordination with other department administrators regarding departmental planning, decision-making and implementation.
  • Serve in one of the following administrative capacities, as outlined below: 1) Director of Clinical Services or 2) Director of Intern Training. Director of Clinical Services: Responsible for day-to-day clinical services of department: responsible for policies/procedures related to clinical services; serves on university Behavioral Intervention Team; employment supervisor for Counseling Psychologists. Director of Intern Training:
    • Responsible for coordination of all aspects of APA-accredited doctoral internship in psychology, including selection, training and evaluation of several full-time one-year intern employees.
    • Ensures staff are trained to be effective and compliant in their work. Monitors employee interactions and promotes a productive, inclusive work environment. Identifies potential performance and employee relations issues. Applies policies and practices; conducts performance reviews.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in the area of specialization or closely related field. Four years of related administrative and technical experience. Additional job related education may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Preferred Qualifications

Master's level degree in related area. Knowledge of working with a college student population. Thorough knowledge of the application and evaluation of counseling techniques. Ability to conceptualize and prioritize goals and objectives. Ability to relate to people from all walks of life and communicate effectively with them.
