Overview

The Data Integration Architect will oversee and execute the integration of data and systems from a newly acquired acquisition into the enterprise data landscape. This role is critical in ensuring that manufacturing, laboratory, supply chain, and business data are seamlessly consolidated to enable unified operations, regulatory compliance, and advanced analytics across the organization.

The ideal candidate combines technical data integration expertise with strong business understanding of the manufacturing and life sciences environment. This position requires the ability to lead cross-functional teams, define integration strategies, ensure data quality, and align technical execution with business and regulatory requirements.



Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Integration Strategy & Planning

    Lead the development and execution of the data integration roadmap for a newly acquired manufacturing and life sciences division.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing data sources, including CRM, ERP, LIMS, MES, QMS, and financial systems, to define integration scope and priorities.
  • Develop detailed data mapping, migration, and transformation strategies aligned with enterprise architecture and business timelines.
  • Define migration and cutover strategies, reconciliation methods, and risk mitigation plans for critical data migrations.

Execution & Delivery

  • Lead a comprehensive data integrity program & remediation effort for systems inherited through acquisition, including profiling, root-cause analysis for data integrity, cleanup planning, KPI tracking, and long-term remediation of critical data defects.
  • Define and implement AI/ML data readiness standards, including dataset lineage, versioning, bias detection, and documentation required to support enterprise AI initiatives.
  • Manage data extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) into corporate systems such as SAP S/4HANA & Water Data Lakehouse (on Databricks).
  • Collaborate with business and technical teams to integrate product, materials, batch, quality, equipment, and regulatory data into unified data models.
  • Ensure standardization and alignment of master data and reference data (materials, customers, suppliers, equipment, personnel) with corporate MDM policies.
  • Coordinate with infrastructure and cybersecurity teams to maintain secure, compliant data flows.
  • Establish validation, reconciliation, and audit processes to ensure data accuracy and completeness post-migration.

Governance & Compliance

  • Develop a long-term master data strategy that supports analytics and AI-enabled decision-making, including canonical models, golden records, and harmonized reference data.
  • Ensure compliance with GxP, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, GDPR, and other data integrity and traceability regulations.
  • Implement robust data quality controls, error tracking, and audit trails supporting regulated data environments.
  • Partner with QA/RA teams to align integration and data handling practices with quality management requirements.

Leadership & Collaboration

  • Serve as the primary liaison between corporate IT, business operations, and acquired division IT teams for all data integration activities.
  • Lead integration working sessions and design reviews, translating business needs into technical deliverables.
  • Provide technical direction and mentorship to data engineers, integration developers, and analysts.
  • Communicate integration progress, risks, issues, and decisions clearly to executive leadership and project sponsors.


Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in data integration, data migration, or enterprise data management, with at least 4 years in a lead or architect role.
  • Proven experience leading data integration projects for mergers, acquisitions, or system consolidations.
  • Strong proficiency with ETL/ELT tools such as Informatica, Talend, Azure Data Factory, SAP Data Services, or Databricks.
  • Deep understanding of manufacturing and life sciences data environments, including CRM, ERP (SAP), LIMS, MES, and QMS systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in data governance, master data management (MDM), and data quality frameworks.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience integrating data into SAP S/4HANA, Azure Synapse, Databricks, or similar platforms.
  • Working knowledge of GxP validation and regulated data lifecycle management.
  • Familiarity with serialization, batch genealogy, and product traceability data models.
  • Prior experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, or medical device manufacturing.

  • Successful and timely integration of acquired divisions' data into corporate systems (SAP, Databricks, Azure).
  • Compliance with regulatory and data integrity requirements.
  • Standardized master data across business units.
  • Reliable, validated data available for business and operational decision-making.
  • Effective collaboration and knowledge transfer between legacy and acquired IT teams.
