General Maintenance Worker

EMI Services is looking for a General Maintenance Worker for the plumbing shop. The General Maintenance Worker (GMW) performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge (but not proficiency) in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. Work involves a variety of duties.

$30..95/ hr. plus $9.75 fringe benefits used towards insurance and 401k!

• Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors
• Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings
• Repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets
• Painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks
• Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles
• Hanging doors and installing door locks; replacing broken window panes
• Performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery
• Performing simple maintenance duties not requiring practical skill and knowledge of a trade (e.g., changing light bulbs and replacing faucet washers)
• Performs other related duties as assigned

• Basic ability to use and knowledge of all tools and equipment that are used by the crafts
• Ability to assist work of the craft in a rapid and efficient manner under extreme conditions
• Ability to perform work safely under hazardous conditions
• Basic knowledge of craft theory and craft materials with the ability to apply the theory and select the proper materials
• Must have the ability to operate various types of equipment for the trade i.e. forklifts, scissor/man lifts, bobcat backhoe etc.
• Must be able to learn and operate any industrial size tools to complete all tasks i.e. table saws, band saws, planers, sanders and routers

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license without special restrictions
• Pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check
• Regular, dependable attendance
• U. S. citizenship to obtain and maintain access to military installations

• Dependable transportation and a dependable means of communication
• Be able speak, write, read, and understand English
• Well-mannered customer service attitude
• Willing to cross-train in other areas
• Punctual, responsible, and dependable
• Demonstrate motivation, initiative, and reliability
• Adaptable, flexible, and able to adjust to new or changing instructions
• Demonstrated ability to follow instructions and company policy
• Able to deliver quality products to the customer and be responsive to their needs
• Safety and security conscious, complying with rules and policies
• Able to work both as part of a team and independently

• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and physical and periodic retests
• Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for work tasks assigned
• Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions including summer temperatures peaking around 120 degrees Fahrenheit
• Must be capable of lifting 75 lbs. unassisted

• Class A or B Commercial Driver's License
• Basic plumbing maintenance experience
• Concrete form setting and finishing abilities
• Able to work with different electrical voltages
