Job Description

PURPOSE:

The Metallurgist candidate will support our aerospace forging, heat-treating, testing, NDT, and machining manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess understanding and provide subject matter expertise in metal properties, processing techniques, and failure analysis with a strong understanding of aerospace standards, quality systems, safety protocols, and represent the Company with our customers, suppliers, and certifying agencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Comply with and support PCC Code of Conduct Requirements and Company policies and procedures, as well as Federal, State and Local regulations.
  2. Comply with and support all PCC Rules, including EHS and Quality.
  3. Ensure product conforms to all customer required metallurgical properties.
  4. Develop forging processes based on the material specification and blueprint requirements that are safe and achieve optimal product quality.
  5. Develop heat-treat procedures and test plans for new parts.
  6. Assist the forge shop and various suppliers with technical questions related to their operation.
  7. Respond to test labs and NDT labs for any nonconformances at those facilities.
  8. Develop nonconformance reports and perform root cause and corrective action analysis, including possible data collection as part of the investigation.
  9. Analyze test data and adjust processing parameters as required to ensure continuing conformance to customer requirements.
  10. Maintain "external" customer relationship for communication of technical issues, resolution of product issues. This includes similar contact concerning technical issues with various suppliers.
  11. Identify and report metallurgical deviations with corrective action to disposition effected product and identify the product within all necessary data/quality systems.
  12. Communicate with all levels of management; report any problems affecting product integrity.
  13. Provide technical metallurgical engineering support to customers and QA department, including during customer audits.
  14. Maintain quality improvement and industry standards.
  15. Conduct metallurgical failure analysis as needed.
  16. Conduct microstructures evaluation and interpretation of microstructures and Grain size ratings
  17. Provide materials engineering support to operations and equipment.
  18. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • B.S. in Material Science or Materials Engineering is required.
  • Understanding the metallurgical behavior of Ni-Based superalloys, Aluminum alloys, Titanium alloys, and Steel alloys.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Knowledge of standards and specifications: ASTM, ASM, and MIL preferred.
  • Experience working with Quality specification requirements of major aerospace customers: Safran, GE Aviation, Military, Northrop Grumman, Pratt & Whitney, Honeywell, and others preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to collect and analyze metallurgical data then present that data to other team members or customers.
  • Good communication skills; verbal and written.
  • Team Player.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $77,600 to $116,400 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 2X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
