Summary:
The MEP coordinator supports our project leadership team on technically complex construction projects. They provide guidance on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing/process topics. Tasks may include reviewing trade work in the field to verify alignment with technical documentation, as well as troubleshooting and resolving commissioning issues with systems or equipment. This position requires an enthusiastic hands-on problem-solver who is a team player with excellent technical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Conformance with all corporate and client confidentiality requirements, strict adherence to business ethics and practices, and a continual demonstration of professionalism throughout the delivery of services is a necessity.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Serve as the technical liaison between A/Z and the engineer/architect, the various MEP trades teams, the client, and other key stakeholders such as AHJs/permitting authorities
- Involvement in the planning, design, and construction phases of the project providing constructability review, input, suggestions, value engineering, and quality assurance
- Facilitate communication between trades, design teams, and construction teams to identify conflicts and develop solutions
- Ensure project work from the contract trader partners and field teams adheres to project plans and specifications, as well as applicable regulatory requirements, and A/Z safety and quality standards
- Deliver a positive client experience thru good communication, establishing trust, and delivering project's contractual requirements
- Support pre-project activities such as developing proposals for new work and assisting the estimating team with understanding the effort required to deliver MEP elements from potential opportunities
- Assist with developing subcontractor scopes of work and vetting subcontractor change orders
- Adherence to Corporate Environmental, Health and Safety Policies and best-practices
- Support Project Managers/Engineers and Project Controls with obtaining project documentation, including but not limited to, close-out, commissioning, validation, and turn-over packages in accordance with contract requirements
- Contribute and participate in A/Z's culture of continuous improvement and team member development. Be open to coaching and mentoring from more experienced team members to learn new skills and perspectives. For more experienced candidates, provide coaching and mentorship to less experienced team members
Essential Skills & Characteristics:
- Strong understanding of MEP concepts (systems and equipment for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, process and fire protection)
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Ability to maintain strict adherence to all safety rules and quality, including use of PPE (personal protective equipment)
- Interact with all co-workers and clients in a timely and courteous manner
- Ability to understand and interpret technical documents such as architectural plans, P&IDs, AF&IDs, specifications, instrument data sheets, and BIM models
- Ability to work with construction software systems such as PROCORE and AUTODESK

Educational & Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering Discipline, preferably Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial
- Minimum of 10 years MEP experience in a design, construction, or facility operations setting. Consideration will be given to candidates without an engineering degree who have a minimum of 20 years experience in a relevant field
- OSHA-30 certification required (A/Z will sponsor an online training course to be completed during the employee's first 30 days to obtain OSHA-30 credentials in the event a candidate does not have this certification)

LOCATION ARRANGEMENTS: This role is a hybrid role, with time split between:
- Project sites within the mid-Atlantic region
- One of A/Z's regional offices, located in Iselin, NJ or Baltimore, MD
- Remote/work from home
- Occasional travel to A/Z HQ in North Stonington, CT
