Job Summary

The senior consultant is responsible for the successful planning and execution of enterprise-wide projects that have a transformative and critical impact on the UC Davis Health organization. The senior consultant will oversee the most complex projects that are highly aligned with UCDH strategic goals and have enterprise level impact. The successful senior consultant will provide business consultative and business transformation services at various levels of the UC Davis Health organization as assigned by Strategy & Growth leadership. The senior consultant will participate with senior executives requesting assistance to deploy key strategic initiatives, business process improvement, and business transformation. They must be proficient in project management methodologies, change management, and performance/process improvement thinking, managing the complexities associated with large, enterprise-wide strategic initiatives and must be able to communicate effectively with executive-level staff. In addition, the senior consultant must be able to actively engage and work collaboratively with leaders and other consultants/team members across the organization on a regular basis - clearly articulating and organizing efforts within Strategy and its support to the organization. The senior consultant must be a self-starter and able to work independently with a minimum of direct supervision.

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training
  • Experience implementing strategic plans and/or growth strategies in health care industry with 5 to 7+ years demonstrated project leadership experience.
  • Project Management, Operational Excellence, Performance Excellence, and/or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in a large, complex healthcare organization with demonstrated process improvement experience.
  • Strong demonstrated interpersonal skills to lead and work collaboratively and effectively with multi-disciplinary, cross-functional teams, and with executives, providers, and staff at all levels.
  • Experience facilitating integration and collaboration
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a complex, multi-constituency organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to positively interact with executives, providers and staff at all levels
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills to manage complex information, assess problems, and develop and effective solutions.
  • Demonstrated leadership and complex organization management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across and beyond the enterprise.
  • Excellent customer service skills to understand and articulate diverse clients' needs and objectives to manage expectations and deliver as promised and on time

Preferred Qualifications

  • Project Management Professional (PMP)
  • Advanced degree in Business Administration or Health Care Administration, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Experience in Active Daily Engagement, Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen workshops, A3 Thinking, True North, Hoshin Kanri
  • Healthcare high reliability industry strategic planning and deployment experience with experience in large-scale cost reduction initiatives
  • Experience in large academic healthcare setting with knowledge of or ability to learn UC Davis Health organization, structure, clinical, research, and administrative departments
  • Experience leading system-wide improvement projects in a healthcare environment with 5 or more years of related quality/process improvement work experience that demonstrate attainment of the requisite job knowledge/skills

Work Environment
