Job Description

Overview:
We are pleased to announce that we are accepting applications for a full-time doctoral level clinical or counseling psychologist who is license eligible in Missouri. Preference to board-certified or board-certified eligible applicants in rehabilitation psychology or health psychology. The position will focus on behavioral health service in orthopaedic trauma surgery and joint preservation as part of an integrated team. The University of Missouri Health Care system is an extensive network of inpatient and outpatient clinical care specialties and a Level I Trauma Center, accredited by the American College of Surgeons, meaning that the most severely injured patients are treated by our clinicians and in our facilities.

Clinical Duties:
This full time benefits eligible position will focus on both inpatient and outpatient behavioral health care, in collaboration with the orthopaedic trauma and joint preservation teams, to maximize functional recovery for patients and to coordinate care across specialties for provision of integrated care. The most common patient populations served include those with complex orthopaedic injuries, polytrauma, limb amputations and complex joint restorative surgeries. There will also be involvement in the limb preservation trauma team.

The position will provide comprehensive services for adult medical patients with a special emphasis on joint preservation, orthopaedic trauma, pain management, health behavior changes, and treatment adherence. Although this position is intended to be primarily clinical in nature, the University of Missouri Orthopaedic Institute has robust research and research mentorship available as desired. The position will have the opportunity to collaborate with interdisciplinary clinicians and researchers from across MU.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D or Psy.D. in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA-accredited institution and will have completed an APA-accredited internship and be license eligible in the state of Missouri.

Candidates will be evaluated on:

  • Internship experience in medical settings
  • Training and experience in general clinical health psychology
  • Experience treating medical patients
  • Experience in working with individuals for health behavior changes and have interest in working on interdisciplinary care teams.
  • Board-certified or board-certified eligible applicants in rehabilitation psychology or health psychology, though all interested applicants are encouraged to apply.
