| Position Summary |
The Senior Accountant is the primary financial support for the Expanded Food and Nutritional Educations Program (
EFNEP). This accounting position in the College of Family and Consumer Sciences (
FACS) with responsibility for various accounting, reporting, and fiscal duties. This position ensures compliance with the guidelines, policies, and procedures from the federal (
USDA
NIFA) funding agency. The fiscal duties include, but are not limited to, reviewing and approving financial transactions, initiation of payments and purchases, financial statements and reports, forecasting spending trends, and troubleshooting financial activity problems. Stakeholders include the Principal Investigator of the
EFNEP grant, Program Coordinators, Nutritional Sciences department team, College,
UGA Extension and College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, County Extension,
UGA procurement and Accounts Payable Departments. This position reports to the Nutritional Sciences Business Manager

| Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Demonstrated knowledge of accounting processes including payables, journal entries, and general ledger analysis and reconciliation.
- Prior budgetary and accounting experience and knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Suite (Excel {including pivot tables}, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Ability to efficiently multi-task, handle interruptions, and meet accounting deadlines
- Ability to interpret data, analyze information, and report important fiscal matters.
- Excellent communication skills and strong organizational skills with emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail.
- Dependable and work well independently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students, and the public.

EFNEP Financial Support:
- Serve as primary financial support and contact for the Principal Investigator (PI) and grant team.
- Process, manage, and approve all financial transactions including payments, reimbursements, purchase orders, journals, direct charges, etc.
- Partner with central units such as College Post-Award team, Accounts Payable, Procurement, Sponsored Projects Administration, and Department of Nutritional Sciences as needed for reporting, questions and support.
- Manage all payroll including payroll adjustments, reconciliation and communication.
- Manage all travel and reimbursements for programmatic reconciliation and grant funding requirements.
- Ensure compliance with reporting and financial standards, policies and procedures.
- Any other financial duties as assigned by the supervisor.

EFNEP Programmatic Support:
- Track payroll and expenditures for correct account each month.
- Provide customer service for financial related questions.
- Assist county and staff funded staff with travel and reimbursement questions.
- Work with College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences and UGA Extension District business managers to process payroll for county employees.
- Reconcile travel expenditures for programmatic accountability.
- Check program assistant calendar against travel expense statements.
- Reconcile grocery reimbursements for programmatic accountability.

Other duties:
- Stay informed of changes in UGA/USG policies and procedures and provide guidance to PIs, state staff, and county employees, specifically in regards to Finance and HR/Payroll.
- Attend various meetings such as staff, departmental, and college meetings.
- Attend financial staff meetings, training as needed, conferences and complete college financial projects.
- Attend Training & Development courses and/or webinars to improve skills and keep abreast of new and changing policies and procedures relating to accounting, budgets, sponsored programs and other University policies and procedures.
- Other related duties as assigned.
