Claims Assistant promotes workers' compensation incidents to claims, notify the VWCC of new claims via electronic FROI and follow-up with claimant's regarding timely reporting. Field all office mail and send to the appropriate claim examiners. Process legal and medical documents, attaching them to the appropriate claim files. Deal with the general public in a professional manner by answering calls, and communicating electronically and in-person. Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire: N/A

Experience REQUIRED:
Previous clerical experience
Experience with personal computers and Windows functionality
Experience PREFERRED
Experience working within an insurance office that handles workers' compensation
Experience in the medical field and/or with insurance claims filing procedures
Education/training REQUIRED:
College education or equivalent
Education/training PREFERRED: Bachelor in Business or equivalent
Independent action(s) required:
Promotes incidents to claims
Scans/attaches documents to claims
Sorts/distributes mail
Answers/transfers calls
Maintains OSHA compliance by updating files as necessary
Identifies processes for improvement
