Carver College of Medicine invites applications for a 100% Instructor faculty Pediatric and Neuroradiology position within the Department of Radiology. We are seeking a qualified candidate to join our growing Division of Neuroradiology with a specialized focus on Pediatric Imaging. This unique position offers a dynamic blend of advanced neuroradiology and comprehensive pediatric radiology within a collaborative academic medical center. Applicants must be board certified or eligible by the American Board of Radiology, with fellowship training in Neuroradiology or equivalent post-residency experience. Additional training or experience in Pediatric Radiology is highly desired. At least 2 years of clinical experience beyond training is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong skills in clinical care, teaching, and academic engagement. The ideal applicant will have expertise in both Neuroradiology and Pediatric Radiology, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to academic radiology. This position includes a mix of general pediatric imaging, complex tertiary care, and Level 1 trauma cases, with exams across all modalities including advanced neuro, body, MSK, and fetal imaging. Coverage includes pediatric ultrasound and fluoroscopy (non-interventional). Approximately 50% of time will be dedicated to academic activities, with protected time for teaching and/or research. The remainder will be spent on clinical duties. The role is primarily in-house. About the Department of Radiology: The Department of Radiology includes 69 staff physicians, 22 PhD researchers, 27 fellows, and 36 residents. The Radiology enterprise expands across four campuses throughout the Iowa City corridor. We also serve Stead Family Children's Hospital located at the Medical Center University campus, as well as several UI urgent cares, clinics, and additional affiliates. Our enterprise operates 12 clinical CT scanners including two Alpha photon-counting scanners , 14 clinical MR scanners including four 3T machines, and the first Siemens Free.Max MR to be housed in an Emergency Department in the United States. The Department of Radiology received the Siemens Biograph One PET/MR scanner on September 23, 2025. The department noted it was only the second site in the U.S. to receive the state-of-the-art device, which combines high-sensitivity PET and 3T MRI technology. This new technology will be used to enhance clinical patient care and open new research opportunities, particularly in oncology and neurology. The Department of Radiology plays an integral role in the Iowa Institute of Biomedical Imaging (IIBI), a collaboration of nearly 100 faculty and staff within the colleges of Engineering, Medicine, and Liberal Arts (https://www.iibi.uiowa.edu). The facility includes 3T, 3T head only and 7T research scanners. The Department of Radiology consistently ranks highly in the Blue Ridge Institute NIH rankings, having received over $10 million in NIH funding last year. We host nine research labs and have 37 active phase I and phase II clinical trials.
