Position Description

Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (CSHL) is seeking a Clinical Laboratory Technologist to support a new, innovative clinical laboratory. This role is ideal for a motivated individual with clinical lab experience who will validate and perform clinical tests, establish new assays with CSHL scientists, and contribute to developing a new testing platform for personalized cancer therapeutics. The technologist will work with the Medical Director and Lab Supervisor to perform tests-including existing assays such as COVID-19-in compliance with all regulatory and institutional standards.

Position Responsibilities

Perform and standardize laboratory tests in accordance with applicable regulatory standards and internal policies.
Work on development of new test procedures and methodologies and validate as Lab Developed Tests.
Perform DNA and RNA extractions, grow cells in culture, extract and measure markers.
Perform testing for troubleshooting, method evaluations, and other laboratory functions.
Work with the Medical Director, Lab Manager and Lab Supervisor to develop clinical research and clinical laboratory SOPs
Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards including but not limited to: NYSDOH, CAP, OSHA, FDA, the Joint Commission, EPA, governing the Clinical Lab.
Perform related duties as required.

Position Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree, required.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a clinical laboratory is recommended. Experience in general molecular biology techniques, such as nucleic acids isolation, PCR, etc is preferred.

SKILLS: Licensed by New York State Education Department (NYSED) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist (or Cytotechnologist), required.

The salary range listed is a good faith determination of potential base compensation that may be offered to a successful applicant for this position at the time of this job advertisement and may be modified in the future.
