Job Summary

The marketing and communications team at the Georgia Tech Scheller College of Business is seeking a temporary Senior Graphic Designer (46 months). This role is instrumental in elevating the visual identity and graphic presence for the College and its B.S., M.S., MBA, Ph.D., Graduate Certificate, and Executive Education programs; Deans Office; Development; Alumni Relations; centers and initiatives; and other academic areas.

This position will interact with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including the marketing, communications, and web/Salesforce team; degreed programs and centers/initiatives teams; College faculty and staff; and external vendors.

This position will report to the Assistant Director of Creative Services and the Interim Director of Marketing and Communications.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Develop content and oversee the design and production process for print collaterals.

Job Duty 2 -
Conduct and utilize market research as necessary to recommend appropriate marketing communications strategies.

Job Duty 3 -
Consult with academic and/or administrative personnel to acquire the necessary information about the subject.

Job Duty 4 -
Confer with Institute Communications and Marketing to ensure that Institute graphic and style standards are followed in all material.

Job Duty 5 -
May obtain cost estimates, collaborate in the selection of illustrators and printers and approve their work.

Job Duty 6 -
May provide input to department policies and procedures.

Job Duty 7 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Responsibilities

  • Using Adobe Creative Cloud apps, design and edit/update collateral for web, digital and traditional advertising, social media, email, and print; including brochures/reports, flyers, animated and static display ads, event signage, presentations, merchandise, email templates, letterhead/envelopes, and more
  • Design brand-aligned visual identities for College events and initiatives (logos, patterns, text styles)
  • Edit photos for size, web optimization, visual style, lighting, contrast, color balance, etc.
  • Manage student graphic designers, provide consistent mentorship, clearly assign/manage projects, and provide constructive feedback
Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Up to two years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Creative, innovative visual communicator with understanding of graphic design principles and current best practices
  • Knowledge of and comfort with AI-assisted design tools (Photoshop Generative Fill, Adobe Firefly)
  • Customer and people-oriented approach
  • Team-oriented attitude
  • Proactive communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and deadlines (spelling and grammar, follow-up with stakeholders, etc.)
  • Ability to re-prioritize tasks when necessary to align with team and College priorities
  • Ability to work on-site at the Scheller College of Business in Midtown Atlanta five days per week
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

SKILLS
This job requires skills in writing and communication, creativity, and the ability to incorporate a variety of resources and tools to develop marketing materials. Requires ability to understand complex and/or highly technical ideas and programs and communicate them in lay terms. Also required are organizational skills as well as use of office and specialized computer applications.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Required: Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere Pro)
  • Required: Minimum 2 years of experience working as a graphic designer on a marketing and communications or creative team (corporate, agency, or higher education/non-profit)
  • Preferred: 1 year of experience managing/mentoring junior designers or students
