Job Purpose

To provide front-line leadership for field operations within the Telecom Department, ensuring a safe work culture while driving performance, coaching, mentoring, and developing the field workforce.

Key Accountabilities
  • Supervise union and non-union non-exempt employees, fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Maintain a high level of technical aptitude and skill in telecommunications, metering, SCADA, two-way radio, microwave, and fiber systems.
  • Manage an expense budget that includes labor, materials, transportation, and other operating expenses.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate projects while ensuring adherence to budget requirements.
  • Promote safety, leadership, and customer focus as core values within the team.
  • Develop clear and specific goals to drive performance and operational excellence.
  • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including active listening and effective communication.
  • Encourage group participation and diversity of thought in decision-making processes.
Qualifications
  • 5 years in telecommunications, metering, Scada, two way radio, microwave and fiber systems maintenance required.
  • Bachelor's Degree or Associate's Degree in Electronic or Electrical Engineering with 5 years of experience in telecommunications, metering, Scada, two way radio, microwave and fiber systems, or similar technical field, servicing customers and supervising employees preferred.
  • FCC certified or other approved form of certification to be reviewed on a case by case basis.
  • Possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
  • Ability to work off-hours and on call rotations, including occasional travel outside the Division.
  • Qualify for Authorized Persons List to coordinate and initiate switching.
  • Must successfully complete job specific National Grid Foundations of Leadership training courses within allotted timeframe.
  • Have a DOT medical certificate and a complete Driver Qualification File to be able to drive, tow trailers, and work in all weather conditions.

Internal candidates will be assessed and provided offers against the minimum qualifications of this role and their individual experience.

Please be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ("DOT") covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA). As such, the Company's testing programs and policies regarding the use of federally prohibited drugs or alcohol, for recreational or medical purposes, will remain in effect for these safety-sensitive, DOT covered positions.
