Overview

TISTA is seeking a Data Engineer responsible for building and maintaining secure, scalable, and optimized data pipelines that enable analytics, reporting, and advanced modeling. This role ensures reliable data flows across multiple systems and supports automation and integration efforts for enterprise analytics platforms, including VBA/VA data environments.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain ETL pipelines and data integration workflows across cloud and onprem sources.
  • Clean, validate, and transform VBA/VA datasets to support analytics, dashboards, and model development.
  • Support API integrations, orchestration tools, and daytoday pipeline operations (scheduling, monitoring, alerting).
  • Ensure pipelines adhere to enterprise security, privacy, and governance standards; optimize for reliability and performance.
  • Partner with data scientists, architects, and product teams; document data models, lineage, and operational runbooks.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in data engineering or closely related roles.
  • Hands-on expertise with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Spark, Airflow, AWS Glue, Azure Data Factory, Informatica, NiFi).
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL; strong grasp of data modeling, partitioning, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern data storage technologies (object stores, warehouses, lakehouses).

Core Skills:

  • Building robust ingestion/transformation pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
  • Implementing data quality checks, observability, and CI/CD for data workflows.
  • Working knowledge of governance/metadata tools and best practices.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, or a related field.
  • Master's degree preferred for senior roles.

Clearance:

  • The ability to pass a Tier 2/Modest Background Investigation.
