Job Summary: This highly skilled job exists to manage a broad spectrum of maintenance activities - both I/E and Mechanical. This position provides troubleshooting, installing, repair, and replacement of equipment as needed to keep the plant operational. This role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient operation of plant systems-including process controls, analyzers, motors, and distributed control systems (DCS/PLC)-in accordance with regulatory requirements and plant safety standards. Depending on the needs of the plant, a new employee who does not have full competency will be in a progression plan that could start with I/E or mechanical. However, as the employee progresses it will include increasing amounts of I/E and mechanical skills ending in a Maintenance Technician who is fully capable in all aspects. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: I/E (70%) / Mechanical (30%)
- Plan and direct procurement of repair parts and material for project Maintenance, calibration and troubleshooting of field instrumentation devices for process equipment such as transmitters, flow meters, pressure/temperature sensors, level instruments, and control valves
- Installation, calibration, inspection, and troubleshooting of instruments and electrical equipment, in accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 70E, ISA and Company Standards.
- Identify, interpret and effectively use drawings and documentation including P&ID's, Ladder logic, Electrical One-Line Diagrams, Equipment Drawings, control schematics, Loops, etc.
- Support commissioning and startup activities for instrumentation and controls projects.
- Work safely on AC distribution systems from 480 volts to 120 volts.
- Troubleshoot, repair motor control circuits and equipment including VFD's, motors and motor control circuits.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical systems
- Perform PM's as needed
- Replace/rebuild pumps, valves, gearboxes etc
- Install equipment, use rigging skills, proper gasket torque techniques.
- Be a Safety Leader and contribute to a 'Safety First' working culture.
- Support Plant Operations to minimize production impacts and enhance reliability.
- Maintain high standards of workmanship and professionalism while working as a member of a team or when working alone.
Qualifications:
Min Years of Experience |
- Minimum 5 years working experience in process plant environments in electrical or mechanical trades. Exception to minimum experience granted if the person enters the in-house apprenticeship program.

Education and area of focus |
- High school diploma required.
- Associate degree or technical certificate in Electrical, Instrumentation, Industrial Technology, or related field (preferred)

Certifications/Trainings: |
- Qualified in Piedmont operations equipment.
- Certifications from trade schools and/or professional organizations are preferred.

Must be able to walk, sit, stand for long periods A fast paced, high pressure environment where you are involved in a wide variety of functions and activities. Must be capable and willing to work overtime as required for 24/7/365 coverage of facilities. Must be able to respond to call outs within 30 minutes of notification. Must be able to use and navigate business applications including maintenance management software and be proficient with MS Office suite. . |
