Job Summary

The primary role will be supervision of all 48X Preop-PACU/Extended Recovery Unit HUSC III and Patient Navigators to provide and maintain efficient clerical support and oversight to ensure excellent customer services is provided to patients and families. This position supervises coordination of patient care services to promote efficient patient flow through the OR Pre-Op PACU units. This position functions as a supervisor and as a working resource person in the 48X OR Preop/PACU and Extended Recovery Unit.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) or UC Davis Health CPR
  • Bachelors degree in related field and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Supervisory experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience working as a hospital unit clerk and/or medical office coordinator.
  • Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
  • Customer service experience in a healthcare environment.
  • Proficiency in all the skills, knowledge and abilities of the HUSC III and Patient Navigator job descriptions for the OR Pre-Op PACU.
  • Knowledge of OR Pre-Op PACU computer data collection processes.
  • Ability to utilize relevant medical terminology
  • Ability to effectively communicate and provide excellent customer service to the target audience.
  • Ability to interact and maintain communications with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrates analytical skills to evaluate data processes, make decisions, provide recommendations, and develop justification to resolve issues that lead to a satisfactory conclusion.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to independently define a problem and identify resources available to help resolve problems, create viable solutions and take action necessary to implement them.
  • Decision making abilities to independently exercise delegated authority to take action and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached.
  • Ability to work independently under high demands and pressure with minimal direction.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational skills to establish workload priorities to enable timely completion of responsibilities.
  • Organizational skills to set priorities to meet goals and deadlines, develop plans for completing projects in an efficient and timely manner, and anticipate workload demands and plan accordingly.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to express assertively, clearly, and concisely both verbally and in writing. Ability to exercise discretion and diplomacy in dealing with others to ensure necessary information and cooperation form a variety of people.
  • Ability to handle or cope during stressful situations. Knowledge of conducting Quality Assurance monitors pertinent to assigned area and practice.
  • Computer proficiency. Knowledge and experience with the EPIC EMR System. Monitors and evaluates cost effectiveness of supplies ordered. The employee must be physically able to lift at least 25 pounds. Must see well enough to read charts and instructions. Hear and speak to effectively communicate with others directly and over the phone.

Department Overview

The 48X Complex at UC Davis Health is a state-of-the-art outpatient surgery center which features 14 operating rooms for surgeries, 59 recovery bays for before and after procedures, 14 private recovery rooms for patients staying up to 23 hours, 96 exam rooms for check-ups and medical visits and 19 clinical treatment rooms for specific procedures.

Pre-Op/PACU at 48X is focused on preparing patients for and aiding in the recovery of patients from anesthetic agents, airway management, pain control, sedation, and hemodynamic monitoring for same-day or overnight surgical services. Through the utilization of the modern treatment spaces at 48X, Pre-Op/PACU strives to deliver the excellent patient care that UC Davis Health commits to all patients and their families.

Work Environment
