Job Description

The School of Education, Social Work, and Psychological Sciences at the University of Missouri - Kansas City (UMKC) announces a search for a Research Assistant at the Urban Education Research Center (UERC). The Research Assistant will provide research support across a variety of projects. At the direction of the UERC leadership team, the Research Assistant will assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting.

The mission of the Urban Education Research Center (UERC) is to create reliable, usable knowledge about education in urban areas with the goal of promoting excellent schooling and improving the lives, opportunities and communities of urban residents in the Greater Kansas City community and the nation. The center accomplishes this mission through collaborative, data-rich strategies including technical assistance and consultation and rigorous research and evaluation using a range of methodological tools.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with UERC leadership team to help plan data collection procedures.
  • Collect and enter data, clean and prepare data for analysis.
  • Create charts, tables, graphs, or written summaries of data.
  • Assist with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and reporting.
  • Assist with communication with internal and external partners as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

NOTE: This position is entirely externally funded and contingent on continued external funding.

This position is a full-time, benefit eligible unranked academic position.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree
    • Demonstrated experience collecting, entering, and cleaning data
    • Proficiency working with Microsoft Excel to manage and analyze data
    • Demonstrated experience analyzing quantitative data
    • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively on a team
    • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Demonstrated experience using statistical analysis software (e.g. R, Stata, SPSS)
    • Proficiency in creating data visualizations
    • Demonstrated experience analyzing qualitative data (e.g., interviews, focus groups)
    • Knowledge of K-12 and postsecondary education systems
Anticipated Hiring Range

Anticipated starting salary is $25.00 per hour, commensurate with education, experience, and internal equity.
