Summary:

Supervises a crew of Tele-Inspection Operators and OMC Laborers conducting internal pipeline inspections.

Posting Period: 12/9/2025 to 1/5/2026

Location: Chelsea, MA

Salary: $69,315.32 - $99,195.41 annually $1,332.99 - $1,907.60 weekly

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Key Responsibilities



  • Supervises all aspects of internal pipeline inspections.
  • Operates all equipment and software associated with internal pipeline inspections.
  • Prepares necessary inspection DVDs and field reports resulting from internal pipeline inspection assignments.
  • Maintains all applicable internal pipeline inspection equipment, vehicles, radios and safety equipment necessary to complete inspection projects.
  • Provides training for new employees in all aspects of internal pipeline inspections and related safety equipment and procedures.
  • Organizes and delegates work assignments for work crews.
  • Performs related duties as required.



Required Qualifications



  • A high school diploma or GED; and
  • Understanding of principles and practices of internal pipeline inspections as acquired through at least three (3) years of directly related experience;
  • including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. Successful completion of the MWRA sponsored supervisory training program and receipt of the training certificate may be substituted for supervisory experience; and
  • Understanding of basic mechanical and electronic concepts associated with inspection equipment as acquired through at least one (1) year experience; or
  • Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Must possess a valid Motor Vehicle Class D Operators license.
  • The ability to get certifications from the following programs within 12 months after hire and renew every three years:
  • NASSCO Pipeline Assessment Certification Program (PACP)
  • NASSCO Manhole Assessment Certification Program (MACP)
  • NASSCO Lateral Assessment Certification Program (LACP)
  • This position has been designated as essential in instances where the MWRA Executive Director requires essential personnel to report to work such as inclement weather or other emergencies.



Knowledge and Abilities



  • Ability to properly and safely operate internal pipelines inspection equipment.
  • The ability to plan, organize, direct and assign duties to subordinates.
  • Ability to read and interpret record plans, drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics and sewer line construction.
  • Understanding of applicable safety principles and practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills required.



Tools and Equipment Used

Office equipment as normally associated with the use of telephone, personal computers including word processing and other software, copy and fax machines. Also, the following Cues, Inc., TV Inspection Equipment: OZ111Camera, Sonar Camera, Steerable Pipe Ranger, Portable Camera Push System and Manhole Pole Camera.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in various field settings and in an office environment. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts, and is occasionally exposed to risk of vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is a moderately loud office setting.

Supervision Received and Exercised

Works under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor.

Exercises supervision over Tele-Inspection Operators and OMC Laborers.
