Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY: The Director is responsible for all aspects of daily operations for the designated multi-unit residential site including development of all clinical programming, hiring and disciplinary actions of staff, effective fiscal management, and interfacing with outside agencies and funding sources.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage all aspects of daily operations including but not limited to staff administration and facilities management
  • Lead team in the design and development of all manner of clinical programming including supervision of psychological services, treatment plans and behavioral programming
  • Oversee the implementation of the program model (e.g. apartment based independent living) which includes but is not limited to psychiatric rehabilitation, independent living, basic life skills
  • Facilitate monthly care meetings with the interdisciplinary team to monitor progress on individual consumer goals; advocate for maximum social, academic, emotional and vocational opportunities for residents
  • Facilitate periodic team meetings with resident's families around issues including but not limited to resident behavioral issues/status, housing changes and medical needs
  • Oversee all procedures regarding record keeping for residents including consultations and medication management
  • Maintain all files on staff regarding required training, disciplinary actions, commendations, evaluations and any other pertinent information for regulatory purposes (to be kept confidentially - double locked)
  • Ensure appropriate personal and physical care for residents through staff training and continual oversight
  • Ensure all safety codes are followed and enforced by conducting monthly announced and unannounced fire drills and documenting same
  • Develop and nurture relationships with resident families as well as with outside social service agencies and funding sources
  • Develop plans of correction regarding licensure, certification and other approvals, when needed
  • Monitor methods of ongoing quality assurance regarding compliance with all licensure, certification, Elwyn and other state regulatory standards through quarterly and annual data reporting to Quality Improvement
  • Work closely with Director regarding program concerns, including but not limited to staffing, admissions, discharges, care management and planning for current residents, facilities management and program budget
  • Actively participate in teams, committees or special projects as directed by Director
  • Provide program quality assurance functions by completing monthly quality auditing and reports as required by Elwyn policy
  • Provide supervision of assigned staff in the areas including, but not limited to, recruitment, selection, leadership, employee scheduling, payroll administration, coaching, training (including in-service), performance management, promotion, discipline and termination
  • Perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), crisis intervention and medication administration using agency-trained protocols
  • Perform other duties as assigned

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Adult Residential Mental Health Services

DIRECT REPORTS: Direct care staff, Program Supervisors, Case Manager, Program Administrative Assistant, Shift Leads

CONTACTS: Residents, Elwyn and agency staff, funding sources, Department of Human Services (DHS), Social Security, social service agencies, Base Service Units, families, county representatives, and advocacy groups.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in human service field; Master's degree preferred
  • Five (5) years' experience within the mental health field
  • Two (2) years supervisory experience
  • Knowledge and experience in clinical program design including individual and group therapy, vocational assessment and development and implementation of behavioral strategies
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Office of Behavioral Health (OBH) operational procedures; community based outpatient and inpatient programs; psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery principles
  • Working knowledge of fiscal management
  • Extensive knowledge of the mental health system based on the county of the program's location, preferred
  • Work experience in a union environment (if supervising a union program), preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage and prioritize multiple, often competing, priorities
  • Demonstrated strong attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated excellent judgment with the ability to independently solve problems and make decisions with little or no need for direct supervision
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate future needed changes or identify problem areas and take effective actions
  • Must be able to perform CPR using agency-trained protocols
  • Must possess excellent customer interaction, collaboration, presentation, and written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated intermediate experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) / Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Must have current, valid driver's license in state of residence, three (3) years driving experience in the United States, and acceptable driving record
