The Pharmacy Supervisor for Pharmacy Technician Training and Education oversees the development and management of comprehensive training programs for pharmacy technicians across MGB. This role ensures compliance with regulatory standards and supports technician career advancement through education and competency assessments. Training program development: Designs and maintains system-wide pharmacy technician training and onboarding programs and coordinates competency assessments.
Leadership and collaboration: Supervises technician educators and partners with pharmacy leadership, HR, and academic institutions to support recruitment, retention, and career development initiatives.
Regulatory compliance and quality: Ensures training programs meet ASHP, PTCB, and state board standards, monitors training outcomes, and supports quality improvement related to technician performance and safety.

Education

  • High school diploma required

  • Bachelor's Degree Related Field of Study preferred but not required

  • Completion of an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent

Licenses and Credentials

  • Pharmacy Technician [State License] required

  • Certification [CPhT] - Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) required

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a certified pharmacy technician in a hospital or health system setting required and at least 2 years of experience in supervisory leadership, training, or an educational role.

  • 2-3 years required of demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs, including onboarding, competency assessments, and continuing education.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Strong organizational and project management abilities.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and influence across multiple departments and sites.
- Displays a comprehensive knowledge of department operations.
- Works accurately and make decisions under stress and with time constraints.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Able to appropriately confront issues, make decisions, and solve problems.
- Strong working knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations, including Board of Pharmacy, Department of Public Health, USP, and Joint Commission standards.
- Completion of an ASHP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program or equivalent required.
