Engineering Operations Manager

Horseshoe Bay Resort | Engineering Department

Position Summary

The Engineering Operations Manager is a highly crucial, hands-on leadership role with significant administrative oversight within the resort's Engineering Department. This manager is directly responsible for ensuring all resort property and equipment are impeccably maintained to Horseshoe Bay Resort standards. The manager is expected to lead by example, promoting a culture of exceptional service, productivity, safety, and accountability within the Engineering team while fostering strong, collaborative relationships across all resort departments.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities

Maintenance Management and Quality Assurance



  • Guest Room Maintenance (PM/PRT): Manage all repair work, encompassing hardware, plumbing, electrical equipment (including lamps, outlets, and switches), air conditioners, and cosmetic items.
  • Inspection and Standards: Conduct weekly inspections of all guest rooms to ensure they meet Horseshoe Bay Resort's quality standards.
  • Preventive Maintenance (PRT): Manage all PRT records to accurately track progress, ensuring Preventive Maintenance is performed a minimum of three times per year.
  • VIP Readiness: Personally inspect all VIP arrival rooms following VIP PRT completion to guarantee the room is in absolute VIP condition for incoming guests.
  • Public Area Integrity: Perform weekly inspections of public areas to ensure the excellent condition of wall coverings, paint, lighting, ceilings, vending areas, exterior railings, facades, rockwork, sidewalks, bridges, and exterior paneling.


Work Order & Tracking Systems (Hotsos & Audits)



  • Hotsos Management: Manage work order tickets (Hotsos), prioritizing them based on urgency and delegating tasks effectively to engineers or trade workers, ensuring timely completion and follow-up.
  • Reporting: Generate weekly and monthly Hotsos reports for the Director of Engineering to facilitate follow-up with Operations personnel, Resort Management (RM), and the Managing Director.
  • Corporate Compliance: Provide updated corporate audit monthly logs, ensuring they are signed by the RM or Managing Director in strict adherence to internal audit guidelines.


Safety, Accident Prevention, and Record Keeping



  • Safety Culture: Maintain constant awareness of all existing departmental Job Safety Analyses (JSAs). Strive to work in an accident-free manner and actively cultivate a safe work environment for all associates.
  • Hazard Correction: Continuously monitor conditions that may endanger associates or guests, taking immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions identified.
  • Emergency Reporting: Report all emergency repairs immediately to the Director of Engineering, ensuring related work order tickets are tracked and completed promptly.
  • Daily Records: Accurately read, log, and track readings from meters, gauges, and other measuring units. Maintain a thorough daily log of all activities and problems encountered, ensuring clear and complete information is passed on to the subsequent shift.


Employment Standards and Qualifications



  • Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent is required, with an emphasis in Technical Trades preferred.
  • Minimum Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in Engineering management is required, with previous experience in hotel or resort Engineering and Maintenance being essential.
  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage and lead teams of 10 or more associates, demonstrating strong management and leadership qualities and the ability to lead full-scale, resort-wide projects.
  • Skills: Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must be able to comprehend reading materials and communicate accurately, both verbally and in writing, in English. Must possess a strong sense of teamwork and professionalism.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to walk, sit, and ascend/descend stairs as a daily routine. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Must maintain a neat and clean overall appearance.
