The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The Echocardiograph Technician Reg. performs optimal quality echocardiographic studies on adult patients with known and/ or suspected cardiac anomalies. These studies include the following modalities: M-mode, 2-Dimensional Echocardiography, Color Doppler and Transesophageal Echocardiography. The Technician must be versatile in their ability to perform cross-training in additional cardiology procedures such as EKGs, and performing non-clinical departmental duties.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Completion and certification from an AMA approved program in Cardiovascular technology, which includes echocardiography

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • Must be registered by ARDMS or CCI or eligible

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Per Diem (PD)

Essential Functions:

  • Performs M-mode, 2-D and/or Color flow Doppler Ultrasound studies when ordered by a physician
  • Facilitates scheduling patients for tests after receiving requests, transports patients to the testing area and explains procedure to patients in order to allay any apprehensions of the tests
  • Transports equipment to patient areas whenever necessary to perform portable studies
  • Performs EKG tracings if needed, to provide adequate coverage
  • Maintains a sufficient supply of stock
  • Assumes responsibility for the routine maintenance of the ultrasound equipment
  • Notifies the Cardiopulmonary Administrator if major repairs are necessary
  • Maintains a statistical information log of testing and patient information
  • Recognizes all abnormal clinical manifestations observed during the study and notifies interpreting or attending physician of observations
  • Assists with and assures the completion of clerical work related to the performance of Echocardiograms
  • Utilizes the SCM system for the purpose of billing, order entry and other relevant data necessary for completion of a patient's test
  • Enters and charges/credits into the computer system
  • Adheres to and demonstrates practice of institutional patient and personnel safety procedures
  • Performs and assists TEE procedures when ordered by a physician
  • Files recordings and reports
  • Sends reports out to respective physicians, patient floor or other medical facility
  • Continues education by participating in conferences and technical meetings
  • Performs other related duties as required by the department's manager
