The School of Public Health division of Health Policy and Management applications for a full-time Research Professional 4 - Public Health (8354PH).

Starting Salary is dependent upon the selected candidate's relevant qualifications, experience, and internal equity: $34.62-$36.06 OR $72,000-$75,000 annually (full-time).

POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a research team member for projects that are a part of the national evaluation of the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility (Flex) Program, where UMN staff serve as the lead organization on the Flex Monitoring Team. This position will collaborate on a variety of research/evaluation and monitoring projects that are national in scope and are related to the Flex Program.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Conducting quantitative and/or qualitative data analyses for quality-related projects for the national evaluation of the Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Program as a part of the Flex Monitoring Team (FMT). (70%)
  • Collaborating with FMT staff in writing policy briefs, reports, data analysis summaries, and peer-reviewed publications, and making presentations at professional conferences and meetings. (20%)
  • Disseminating products to stakeholders including data reports and briefs and other administrative and coordination tasks. (10%)
Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree in health policy, public health, public policy, data analytics, health informatics, or a related field and 2 years of relevant experience or BS/BA and 5 years of related experience
  • Effectiveness in quantitative and/or qualitative methods
  • Proficiency in statistical software (such as R, Stata, SAS)
  • Effectiveness in written, virtual, and in-person communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as a member of a research team
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse, inclusive, and respectful workplace.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in analyses of survey data, claims data, and/or hospital quality data
  • Demonstrated effective writing skills, including an ability to translate research results into reports, policy briefs, papers and presentations for diverse audiences
  • Experience or interest in rural health topics
