We are seeking a Research Lab Tech III/Supervisor to join our team. This position plans and conducts research experiments in accordance with laboratory and safety protocols, performing non-routine and complex procedures with independence and precision. The incumbent will also supervise and train laboratory personnel, contribute to research design and execution, and ensure smooth laboratory operations through equipment maintenance, supply management, and adherence to university and safety standards.

Job Accountabilities:

  • Supervise unit employees and/or student workers as assigned, assisting with recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and daily oversight.
  • Plan and conduct research experiments in accordance with established laboratory and safety protocols.
  • Independently perform complex and non-routine laboratory procedures and techniques with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and results; provide data analysis and interpretation for review.
  • Select, modify, and adapt laboratory equipment and procedures to meet specific research needs.
  • Operate and maintain sophisticated scientific instruments, troubleshooting and performing standard repairs as needed.
  • Manage laboratory inventory and vendor relationships; recommend and procure equipment and supplies.
  • Prepare chemical solutions for experimental use and assist in the design and planning of experiments.
  • Stay current with advancements in research to enhance planning and experimental design.

Job Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree and specialized/technical training required.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Combined experience/education may substitute for minimum education.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of directly related laboratory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge of research procedures, equipment, and analysis methods.
  • Fully competent and proficient in the operation of sophisticated scientific equipment and able to independently perform complex techniques with accuracy.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and leadership skills.

Compensation and Benefits:

The annual base salary range for this position is $30.29 - $35.09
