Position Title: Substance Abuse Treatment Counselor Company Name: PDO Location: Madison, WI Salary: 75,0000 Position Summary The person hired for this position will provide Counseling and Case Management services to soldiers of the Wisconsin Army National Guard (WIARNG). Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Receive referrals for Soldiers who receive an Operating While Intoxicated (OWI) offense and other alcohol related serious incident reports (SIR) as well as command team referrals and self-referrals from Soldiers for alcohol related concerns. Provide Alcohol Use Disorder Assessments (AUDA). Determine the level of risk for current alcohol use in a Soldier through an AUDA. Provide counseling and case management for Soldiers for alcohol use:
Provide counseling to Soldiers for alcohol use and recommend treatment and rehabilitation strategies based on the level of risk for alcohol use disorder; and Provide case management to Soldiers by connecting them with civilian treatment providers, the Joint Wellness and Recovery Program (JWRP), and/or MyPrime for Life based on the Soldier's level of risk determined on the Alcohol Use Disorder Assessment. Determine during the Alcohol Use Disorder Assessment if the Soldier has identified any Behavioral Health concerns. If there are Behavioral Health concerns, they will refer the Soldier to the HSS Social Work team.
Plan, coordinate, and facilitate the Joint Wellness and Recovery Program (JWRP) retreats. Conduct follow up with commands and Soldiers who have completed MyPrime to determine if the program was beneficial for the Soldier to measure effectiveness of the program, as well as refer Soldiers to further treatment, if necessary, after completing MyPrime. Be available at nights and weekends to provide support to Soldiers and units and will adjust their schedule accordingly if needed. Follow up with soldiers on their My Prime process Administration:
Meet timelines for administrative tasks, activities, and events. Ensure data files and records are accurately maintained so management can track the program's progress/status.
Required Education, Experience, and Skills (relevant experience may be substituted for any of the following with Manager's approval)
Certification as a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or a Substance Abuse Counselor in Training (SAC-IT) is required for this position. Bachelor's degree in the Human Services field is preferred but not required.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
Demonstrated capability in counseling, with 1 year experience in counseling services, and/or public health. A combination of experience and/or education will be taken into consideration.

Skills in monitoring program progress against execution of plans, metrics and desired outcomes, assessing and identifying capability gaps and opportunities for improvement to enable a culture of high performance, and managing multiple complex programs in a fast-paced environment with many partners and stakeholders. Demonstrated consultative approach: excellent communication and influencing skills to communicate effectively and credibly, both verbally and in writing, with audiences at all levels. Ability to work autonomously and effectively in a fast-paced, complex, multi-tasking environment. Strong command of Microsoft Office and ability to produce deliverables that carry a "stamp of excellence." Able to understand, adhere to and enforce corporate values, policies, procedures, and standards. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Good business writing and oral communication skills. Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension). Better-than-average skill in current versions of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Capable of passing background investigation and periodic drug testing.
Additional Qualifying Factors
Legally eligible to work in the United States (proof of eligibility will be required upon offer of employment). Possess a valid driver's license (any state), ability to operate a motor vehicle, able to provide clean driving record and current vehicle insurance coverage. Eligible for access onto military installations following background and security checks. Ability to travel to training locations as assigned; some travel is anticipated with this position. Flexibility with work schedule is mandatory because it impacts the ability to support and serve military.
Working Environment
Ad administrative office setting, at a National Guard Amory. An uncommon tour of duty may be required, including drill weekends and evenings. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Physical Demands (including but not limited to the following)
Long periods of sitting at desk, minor physical stamina required. Normal periods of standing and walking. Ability to reach with hands and arms. Lift 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
