What you'll do

In this role you will help technically lead the Advance Microelectronics Division within Viasat to create and develop advance microelectronic products consisting of custom RFICs/ASICS/MMICs using advance packaging technology in a multi-module. You will work within Viasat to develop roadmaps, develop schedules and cost, technically lead projects, being a technical reviewer on other projects, pursue new business, and create process efficiencies for this division.


The day-to-day

  • Act as Project Lead for key Microelectronic/IC development programs where you would help solve technical problems, provide risk assessments, manage team and customer expectations
  • Manage relationships with business unit managers and system engineers to help develop roadmaps, pursue business opportunities
  • Actively market the skills and capabilities of the Advance Microelectronics Division
  • Work with team to continuously improve the quality and efficiency of the designs process used to insure 1st pass design success
  • Work with the Advance Microelectronics Division Manager to drive a vision for the team, provide development recommendations and feedback, guide direction for major technology development.
  • Design complex RF and Microwave IC designs
  • Work with external vendors to understand technology advancements.

What you'll need

  • 15+ years of experience in the RFIC/MMIC/Packaging design related to the SatCom and/or Phase Array technology field
  • Ability to perform system line up analysis, understand system requirements, and help develop IC requirements.
  • Demonstrated skills and experience in RF and Microwave and analog IC design and advance microelectronics products.
  • Has led and motivated a strong technical team on very complex product developments.
  • Experience in writing technical white papers and proposals.
  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Electrical Engineering.
  • US Citizenship or Permanent Residency required.
  • Up to 10% travel.
  • This position is located in Tempe, AZ, and offers the flexibility to work in a hybrid manner depending on program demands.

  • IC design lead experience.
  • Experience working with advanced RF, phase-array, V-Band and space electronics.
  • Experience working with tools such as Cadence and HFSS.
  • Familiarity with state of the art SiGe and CMOS processes.

Salary range

$156,000.00 - $246,500.00 / annually.
For specific work locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, the base pay range for this role is $194,000.00- $291,000.00/ annually
