Title:Supervisor Field Construction Company: Tampa Electric Company State and City: Florida- Tampa Shift: 8 Hr. X 5 Days POSITION CONCEPT The Supvr Field Construction is responsible for assisting in preparation of field installation contract packages, safe direction of contractor's work using a ZERO accident philosophy, monitoring daily work activities to ensure contractors and subcontractors are supporting the overall project schedule. Review the project design to identify any potential changes and work with contract staff to review and approve any contract change notices. Ensure the quality of all work performed while identifying critical construction items that may have potential of impacting the work schedule. Monitor the project for work rule and CSMP compliance. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure quality of work performed and identify critical items that may impact the project work schedule. Review project design and identify any potential changes. Review changes with contract personnel for approval of any change notices. Monitor and ensure that contractors' work is done in a safe and cost-effective manner. Assist in preparation of field installation subcontract packages. Monitor all assigned projects for Safe Work Practices (SWP) and Contractor Safety Management Program (CSMP) compliance. Inspect ongoing work activities to confirm contractor performance to project plans, specifications, and monitor/enforce compliance to all regulatory requirements. Assist with planning and establishing project schedules and following up on actual performance and productivity against estimates. Support ED Project Management efforts to bid, evaluate and award Mechanical and Civil/Structural contract work. Assign duties and responsibilities to contractors and subcontractors and follow work progress on assigned project areas. SUPERVISION Direct: Direct Supervision of assigned team members Indirect: Contractor management planning staff. RELATIONSHIPS Key Internal: Interfaces with Contracting Partner, Engineers, Planning Groups, and Managers. Communicates daily with Contractor Supervisors, Construction Supervisors, and with the Construction Manager Key External: Frequent contact with Senior Management of contractor firms regarding development of estimates and manpower planning. Frequent contact with Warehouse and TECO Buyers. QUALIFICATIONS Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Preferred: Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Building Construction, or related degree. Experience Required: 4 years of operations experience in progressively more complex assignments, with at least 2 years underground and overhead distribution construction or design experience. College degree may be considered in lieu of some equivalent experience. Preferred: Proven leadership on projects, and other various assignments, of complexity and diversity. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA) Required: Thorough understanding of the construction, maintenance and operating facets of TEC's underground and overhead electrical distribution systems, and Safe Work Practices and Contractor Safety Management Program. Requires a mechanical aptitude. Must have the ability to become proficient in current work management (WorkPro) and budget software system (SAP), along with the capacity to make successful decisions in high stress situations. Demonstrated strong leadership skills, high work standards and high stress tolerance. Good, planning, organizing, teamwork, oral and written communication skills and theability to accept, manage, communicate, and facilitate change. Must be able to perform inspections in field/remote locations. Respond to Project needs with 24/7 coverage. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ REQUIREMENTS Working outdoors in hot. Humid wet and/or cold conditions. Walking, bending, climbing stairs throughout the workday. Must be able to perform inspections in field/remote locations.
