Overview

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Quantity Supervisor leads the takeoff and quantity estimating function within the Civil and Projects Division. This position is responsible for managing a team of takeoff technicians, overseeing the preparation of accurate quantity takeoffs, and ensuring timely and complete deliverables for bid proposals. The role also supports strategic estimating efforts, develops process efficiencies, and collaborates closely with the Director of Preconstruction and project management teams to ensure consistency, accuracy, and quality in all takeoff and estimating deliverables. This role will also support the data import and quantity calculations associated with our drone surveying equipment.

Responsibilities

    Lead, train, and mentor takeoff and estimating team members to ensure consistency and accuracy in takeoff deliverables.

  • Oversee review of project drawings, specifications, and civil models to develop detailed quantity takeoffs for all bid items within the project scope.
  • Manage and perform quality checks on all takeoff data, volume reports, and cut/fill maps.
  • Coordinate with estimators to verify quantities, material requirements, and subcontractor scopes.
  • Review and approve project takeoffs based on design revisions, addenda, and clarifications.
  • Oversee 3D modeling and earthwork calculations using AutoCAD and AGTEK software.
  • Operate 3D modeling software with an advanced capability, provide recommendations to senior leader regarding best practices and use of software.
  • Implement and maintain standardized takeoff processes, templates, and documentation procedures.
  • Collaborate with IT and project controls to enhance digital workflows and data accuracy across platforms.
  • Support bid review meetings with technical data and quantity summaries.
  • Assist in budget preparation and provide input for project cost forecasts.
  • Manage document control for bid drawings, specifications, and revisions through company FTP and network systems.
  • Build relationships with vendors and subcontractors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Develop staff capabilities through training, cross-functional exposure, and performance feedback.


Qualifications

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Advanced understanding of civil construction drawings, specifications, and CAD modeling.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, AGTEK, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective communication skills for coordination with estimators, project managers, and executive leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of geotechnical and soil reports.
  • Commitment to accuracy, process improvement, and continuous learning.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position is a management position with supervisory responsibilities..

EDUCATIONAL AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • Advanced education can be substituted with commensurate experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating or takeoff within heavy civil, site development, or related construction.
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams strongly preferred.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Works in an office environment at the Corporate office or in the field.
  • May be exposed to extreme temperatures in the field - hot and cold.
  • May be exposed to chemicals, refuse and dirt from jobsites.
  • Moderate noise levels.
  • May be exposed to other risks associated with working around heavy machines, tools and trucks.
