Job Summary

This position is responsible for construction operations on assigned projects, which includes providing leadership, oversight and people development while ensuring alignment with Graniterock's Family Vision, Core Purpose, Core Values, Strategic priorities and business objectives.

Essential Job Accountabilities

  1. Comply, understand, and promote corporate and division safety initiatives to ensure "Safety before All Else."

  2. Be a visible model and champion to build, nurture and maintain an inclusive, collaborative culture within the Construction Division.

  3. Provide overall leadership, guidance and professional development to the project management teams to ensure expected financial performance it achieved.

  4. Prepare and communicate accurate and timely financial forecasts, budgets, and projections

  5. Coach Team Members, set and communicate objectives, identify and reward employee success, and provide advancement opportunities to ensure a high-performance culture.

  6. Actively participate in bid reviews for all large dollar and/or complicated bids to ensure estimate accuracy, risk and opportunity assessment, and strength and weakness analysis.

  7. Lead efforts on assigned projects regarding issue resolution and provide assistance to and hold Project Managers accountable for resolving all issues to maximize results.

  8. Develop strategic and professional relationships; work to build alliances with local politicians, customers, vendors and subcontractors to ensure Graniterock is a well-respected leader in the local community.

  9. Ensure that the Graniterock equipment standards and policies are being met.

Education and Work Experience

  • BS degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field or equivalent work experience in heavy civil, highway and management.

  • Minimum of ten (10) years' construction project management experience with five (5) of those being with Graniterock.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

* Expert knowledge of construction operations (technology, equipment, methods, etc.), company policies, procedures and standards.

* Advanced knowledge of craft employee relations, including the collective bargaining process as well as all employee related laws and regulations.

* Experience in estimating of earthwork, concrete, utility, paving, structures, underground, as well as other construction operations.

* Demonstrated ability to lead teams that are working on different construction projects.

* Excellent communication, organizational, supervisory, and planning skills required.

* Proficiency with all MS Office products such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

* Excellent organizational, supervisory, and decision making/problem solving skills essential.

* Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.

* Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

This position has been identified as a "safety sensitive" role and is subject to random drug and alcohol testing, per the Graniterock Substance Abuse policy.
