The Healthcare Analytics Manager manages the Healthcare Analytics team as it provides fiscal centric data and reporting to the organization for the counties within the catchment area. Leads the Healthcare Analytics team in interpreting and analyzing data and manages the development and submission of regular and ad hoc reports from a variety of data sources. This role requires high technical proficiency and deep understanding of Medical cost analytics including financial forecasting, cost drivers and claims structure. Works to utilize personal and team advanced technical skills to review service utilization, per member per month and unit cost trends for various Medicaid lines of business. Manages and provides direct oversight of Healthcare Analytics Team activities and personnel. Provides technical expertise to department staff and manages relationships with operational leaders and staff. Directs staff projects and maintains internal work plans to meet reporting needs of the department. Acts as a resource to Healthcare Analytics staff for mentoring, coaching, and analysis questions. Responsible for staff time keeping, performance tracking, and professional development. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Analysis, Development and Deployment of Financial and Cost of Care data and reporting:
- Oversee the development and management of financial models related to premium, cost of care, and PMPM.
- Guides department staff in creating reporting for strategic and financial analysis, utilization patterns and medical loss ratio.
Development and Presentation of Healthcare Analytics Reporting:
- Work with applicable organizational departments to present, review, and take action on cost of care reporting. Coordinates with organization departments and leadership to meet financial analysis and reporting development needs (including MLR, Cost of Care, PMPM calculations).
- Represents Healthcare Analytics department in cross-departmental and operational meetings.
- Interfaces and maintains positive interactions with business unit personnel.
Supervision:
- Manage Healthcare Analytics Analyst workload and supervise department work products to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Allocates, tracks, hire, train and onboard analysts as needed.
- Provide professional development, coaching and professional oversight of the Healthcare Analytics team.

- Excellent high-level analytical/problem solving skills and communication skills both orally and written are required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and manage expectations across employees, assignments and collaborators.
- Experience overseeing staff in completing multiple data analysis projects from beginning to end including but not limited to requirement gathering, data cleansing, analysis, report development, presentation development, and presenting results to various levels of the organization.
- High level ability to analyze business needs, make proactive recommendations to improve existing processes and identify where Healthcare Analytics may create value.
- Capability to understand business processes and interact directly with internal business units to provide sound analysis and tools for decision making.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to lead, coach, and supervise a diverse team.
- Desire for constant growth and an innate curiosity.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment managing multiple projects and staff members simultaneously.
- Integrity and decision making skills necessary to work with and protect confidential personal health information.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Suite, Microsoft SQL Server. Including experience with SQL Query writing, and Power Query in Excel.
- High level of competence with Microsoft Excel including Power Query, formula writing, and dashboard/report design.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Analytics/BI, Computer Science, Information Technology or related discipline required. Must have:
- 8 years of experience in the development of healthcare data analysis or research require
- 2-3 years management or team leadership experience
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Close visual acuity to perform activities such as preparation and analysis of documents; viewing a computer terminal; and extensive reading.
- Physical activity in this position includes crouching, reaching, walking, talking, hearing and repetitive motion of hands, wrists and fingers.
- Sedentary work with lifting requirements up to 10 pounds, sitting for extended periods of time.
- Mental concentration is required in all aspects of work.
RESIDENCY REQUIREMENT: The person in this position must live in NC, SC, GA, TN, VA, MD, or FL. Preference will be given to candidates located in/close to North Carolina. SALARY: Depending on qualifications & experience of candidate. This position is exempt and is not eligible for overtime compensation.
