Remote - Within RCAC Footprint General Purpose: Under general supervision of the Loan Fund Director, this role provides leadership, oversight, and strategic management for the loan closing unit to ensure all areas of the department are operating soundly and efficiently by providing excellent customer service as wells as maintaining strong relationships with customers and third-party vendors, resulting in repeat customers. Specific job goals, objectives and tasks are established for each employee as part of the annual evaluation and work plan process. - Oversees day-to-day operations of the closing unit to ensure accuracy and compliance of post-closing loan and mortgage files in accordance with RCAC and investor lending guidelines and state and federal regulations.Responsible for compliance and quality control.
- Works closely with the credit officer and production team to ensure compliance with loan fund policies and procedures.
- Attends all loan committee meetings.
- Oversees the preparation of commitment letters and closing documents.
- Analyzes any relevant title or escrow to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.
- Oversees timely funding of new projects.
- Reviews and acknowledges loan boarding documents are accurate and ready for submission to the loan servicing unit.
- Schedules and coordinates monthly pipeline reports with closing staff.
- Manages and supervises complicated reporting, loan fund spreadsheets, and reconciling activities.
- Recommends feasible solutions to resolve existing problems and facilitate implementation of the same.
- Coordinates with the finance department as needed.
- Communicates and coordinates with the Loan Servicing Manager to ensure the department is running efficiently and accurately.
- Oversees report preparations for internal departments and external agencies.
- Recommends solutions to resolve troubled accounts.
- Establishes processes and procedures to maintain the accuracy and completeness of required documents for loan files.
- Works on long-term projects and goals as directed by the Loan Fund Director to meet the objectives of the organization.
- Elevates service levels for customers by assisting in the application process, overseeing all mortgage loan closings, and completing all post-closing requirements quickly.
- Ensures future sustainability and quality control of real estate mortgage loans and refinances by adhering to all lender underwriting guidelines and federal and state regulations.
- Examines and implements closing processes as required to maintain accurate loan files, settlement statements, and closing documents.
- Manages workload and plans for future needs, including projected volume.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, participating in professional societies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision Exercised:
- Supervises staff in loan closing unit.
- Improves staff effectiveness by motivating, coaching, counseling, training, and recommending disciplinary action for employees; planning, delegating, monitoring, appraising job tasks and results in a timely manner, and approving time sheets.
- Oversees the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, schedules, time approval, hiring, training, orientation, and problem resolution; evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions; motivates employees to achieve peak productivity and performance.
- Develops measurable performance expectations for assigned staff according to department goals and objectives.
Minimum Qualifications and Necessary Requirements:
- EQUIVALENT combination of education and experience can meet minimum qualifications.
- EDUCATION: Associate's degree in finance, accounting, banking, customer service or related field.
- LICENSE/CERTIFICATION: Valid driver's license and proof of insurance that meets the minimum requirements ($100,000/$300,000) of RCAC corporate liability policy.
- EXPERIENCE: Five years of experience loan closing. Two years in a supervisory capacity. Significant experience proofreading and editing documents. Proficient computer skills with Microsoft Office programs.
- Must pass a background investigation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of finance, development, law, lending practices and procedures, and the escrow process.
- Knowledge of public nonprofit associations, agencies, and programs.
- Knowledge of servicing various community development lending programs.
- Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).
- Organizing and coordinating skills.
- Customer service skills.
- Ability to prepare and present loan documentation.
- Ability to plan, monitor, and manage contract and loan performance.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree.
- Closing experience.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stand; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and depth perception. Working Conditions: Work is typically performed in an office with a moderate noise level. Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required. Travel will be required.
