Senior Electrical Engineer - Facilities (HQS Site)

Elevate facility performance and reliability as a Senior Electrical Engineer responsible for the design, development, and technical leadership of electrical operations and maintenance at our HQS site. This role ensures electrical systems run safely and efficiently, drives capital improvement recommendations, and delivers engineering solutions that support mission-critical facilities including medium-voltage distribution, backup power, and data center systems.

What you'll do

  • Lead design and installation: Research, design, and detail facility electrical systems and support their installation and commissioning.
  • Ensure emergency readiness: Coordinate with O&M and plant teams to maintain emergency power, resiliency, and preparedness.
  • Drive maintenance excellence: Collaborate with O&M to develop and execute preventive and corrective maintenance programs that reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Plan infrastructure improvements: Conduct studies of current and future requirements, analyze data, recommend capital projects, and develop business cases for upgrades.
  • Manage construction and renovations: Oversee electrical scope from design through completion, ensuring alignment with budgets, schedules, safety standards, and strategic objectives.
  • Develop standards and procedures: Create, update, and implement facility maintenance policies, design standards, and site-specific operating procedures to establish consistent, best-practice approaches.
  • Produce technical documentation: Create and review electrical design drawings, submittals, redline updates, and one-line diagrams.
  • Partner across teams: Work with cross-functional stakeholders and vendors to ensure timely, cost-effective delivery of electrical services.

Required qualifications

  • Security Clearance: TS/SCI with the ability to pass a polygraph.
  • Experience: 8-12 years of electrical engineering experience in facility or commercial settings.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Technical skills: Proven expertise in complex electrical system design and testing, including power distribution, lighting, control systems, medium-voltage distribution, UPS, generators, and data center power systems.
  • Codes & tools: Advanced knowledge of NEC and commercial electrical codes; proficiency with AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
  • Systems knowledge: Experience with energy-efficiency practices, PLCs, industrial control systems, and instrumentation.
  • Problem solving & communication: Ability to resolve complex multi-disciplinary technical issues and effectively brief senior leadership and customers on technical solutions and project status.

Preferred qualifications

  • Recognized subject matter expert (SME) in facility electrical engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Field experience in electrical construction, systems integration, and testing.
  • Project management skills: scheduling, budgeting, and resource planning.
  • Experience supporting reactive maintenance programs for building electrical systems.
