Position summary: Responsible to support operations, business development, strategic planning, financial success, and growth at the regional level in a matrix based organizational structure. Essential functions and responsibilities: People
- Ensure that staff development is occurring at all levels and within each section of the region.
- Build and maintain relationships with staff within the region. Mentor, coach and train staff.
- Lead and manage team members by providing leadership and continuous performance management (setting expectations, goals, feedback, 1:1 meeting, coaching) that supports the growth and development of team.
- Shape and develop the company's culture in the region.
- Participate in interviewing and hiring staff for the region.
- Provide performance reviews for direct reports and participate and/or provide input for other senior staff performance reviews in the region that are not direct reports.
Projects
- Provide project oversight and/or management for significant projects as needed.
- Participate in project financial reviews for projects in New Jersey and New York City markets.
Strategy/Business Development
- Assist/lead with the implementation of measures to achieve strategic goals across the region with a focus on New Jersey and New York City. Some examples are below:
- Win larger and more complex NJDOT projects.
- Assist with the establishment of a leadership team in NYC.
- Assist with establishing WWW team that serves northern NJ.
- Establish and grow market presence in region through marketing and business development
- Promote and facilitate efficient work sharing across the region and corporate-wide.
- Be a driver for improving technology application and advancement in the region and company.
Financial Oversight
- Responsible for oversight/awareness of financial KPI's including profitability, project performance, utilization etc.
- Collaborate with JMT Regional and Corporate Managers to support work-share and business development efforts.
- Ensure the assignment of staff resources is coordinated with regional offices.
Nonessential functions and responsibilities:

Required Skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment, build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions
- Demonstrate organized practices
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Self-starter with full ability to operate independently with substantial autonomy
- Strong computer skills are required: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field from an accredited program
- Professional Engineer License or equivalent
- 20+ years of industry experience including supervisory, project management, and business development
- Experience working with local clients at the state, county, and major municipality level
Qualifications preferred:
- Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Working Conditions Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. Travel to offices in the region monthly will be required to meet with office leadership and staff. Travel will also be required monthly to the Operations Board Meeting, generally in our corporate office in Hunt Valley, MD. Periodically the Operations Meeting is held in a Regional Office.
