As a key member of our materials development and evaluation team, you will play a crucial role in the development, operation, and maintenance of our advanced electrode and cell development line. We are seeking an Engineering Technician who is passionate about making fantastic new products and using data to achieve outstanding quality, reliability, and production excellence. As an Engineering Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our electrode and cell assembly equipment, conducting testing and characterization of materials, and analyzing data to identify areas for improvement. You will work closely with our engineering teams to develop and implement new processes and procedures and will be expected to provide feedback and suggestions for improvement.
What You'll Do
- Operating of electrode and cell assembly equipment to produce and test prototype battery cells
- Electrochemical characterization of powder materials by electrode synthesis and assembly of lithium-ion cell prototype coin cells and pouch cells
- Carefully document critical build process parameters and quality control metrics, and perform analysis as needed, including Process and manage data with the use of a data system
- Perform regular equipment inspections before and after running the equipment
- Perform build QC on all electrodes and cells; this will include building and testing half-cell coin and pouch cells and running other electrochemical diagnostic techniques
- Provide feedback on existing SOPs and assist the process and equipment engineering teams to write new SOPs
- Diagnose cell build issues and equipment failures - root cause and communicate required actions between the equipment and process engineering teams
- Perform minor equipment repairs and coordinate with equipment team for major repairs
What You'll Bring
- Practical experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in a chemistry or biology lab environment, with a strong foundation in laboratory and practices
- A strong passion for delivering high-quality products and using data to drive excellence
- The ability to collaborate and take on challenges in unfamiliar areas
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes of problems and implement effective solutions
- Experience with slurry mixing, coating, pressing, micron-scale precision and cell assembly is desirable
- Familiar with building and testing Li-ion coin and pouch cells with Arbin, Neware, and/or Gamry is a plus
- Knowledge of design of experiments is also a plus
- Able and willing to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Able to pass a breathing test to be fitted for respirator

Expected Compensation
$24.40 - $50.40/hour + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
