Job Summary

The Assistant Director for Alumni Engagement is a key member of the Drexel Alumni and Constituent Engagement team, responsible for developing, implementing, and executing programs and partnerships that connect alumni to the University. This role focuses on alumni audiences with shared areas of interests and establishing new processes and procedures to support their engagement. The Assistant Director also leads programming that supports the student to alumni transition and introduces students and recent graduates to the alumni community, including the President's Toast and Welcome Week events.

Additionally, the Assistant Director will help develop strategies for volunteerism, fundraising, and marketing to boost engagement and provide support for the team's digital engagement platforms, including Dragon Network. They will work with internal and external partners to create programs, events, and activities that promote alumni leadership, advocacy, and support the university's engagement and fundraising goals.

This is a hybrid position working a combination of in-person and remote.

Essential Functions



  • Work with the Associate Director to develop and implement a strategic plan and formal recognition process for engagement across various alumni groups, creating and executing programs to meet their unique needs.
  • Lead programming initiatives that welcome students and recent graduates to the alumni community, including the President's Toast and Welcome Week events.
  • Serve as a liaison with campus partners and the Alumni Board of Governors to centralize resources, cultivate alumni volunteers, and collaborate with Marketing and Communications to promote engagement opportunities and report outcomes.
  • Collaborate with Alumni Engagement team in the development and execution of signature events and programs, including Alumni Weekend and Homecoming.
  • Provide support for the team's digital engagement platforms, including Dragon Network and AlumniQ.
  • Support larger Institutional Advancement engagement and fundraising goals.
  • Provide oversight for assigned portion of the Alumni Engagement budget, needed to support programs and outreach; track expenditures, revenue and return on investment; coordinate budget transfers to/from Alumni Engagement as needed.
  • Support alumni and donor engagement programs and events throughout the year by staffing, engaging with attendees, and documenting conversations/findings from those interactions.
  • Participate in related University and Institutional Advancement committees as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications



  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in program development, event planning/management, and/or volunteer management.
  • Proven ability to develop relationships across complex populations and internally with colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
  • Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent administrative skills.
  • A strong technical aptitude, analytical skills, and a willingness to learn new digital systems.


Preferred Qualifications



  • Knowledge of higher education or fundraising principles.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade J. Compensation for this grade ranges from $47,490 - $71,230 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate's qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
