Work with skilled supervision to perform the following:

  • Setup, programming, and operation on CNC horizontal/vertical lathes and mills

  • Set up and run fixtures and parts on manual lathes and/or VTLs.

  • Reads and interprets, blueprints, technical work instructions, specifications, and engine manuals in order to determine the machining sequences and operations to be performed

  • Ability to set up a component for machining, including indicating, tramming, and restraining the work piece.

  • Has a solid understanding of machining parameters for different alloy types and can interpret and apply geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

  • Program, edit, and understand both conversational and G-Code programming on mills and lathes, including reference points, tool setting, offsets, and compensation

  • Ability to use a variety of precision measurement equipment, such as calipers, gages, and micrometers to obtain dimensions down to +/- 0.0002"

  • Continually updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and training programs.

  • Participate in continuous improvement of the production cell and site.

  • Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements.

  • Participates in the cross training of other technicians as needed to support production requirements.

  • Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.

  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High degree of mechanical aptitude, accuracy, and precision.

  • Understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication methods and processes.

  • Ability to use of precision measuring instruments and hand tools.

  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints.

  • Strong mathematical aptitude.

  • Working knowledge of related company instructions, company processes, reworks process instructions, original equipment manufacturer manuals and MSDS labels.

  • Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program, or equivalent.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted).

  • Regularly required to stand for prolonged periods.

  • Experience using Mastercam preferred

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Must be a US Citizen or a US Permanent Resident
