Work arrangement - Onsite 4825 Creekstone Drive, Durham, NC 27703

PURPOSE:Support strategic planning efforts to help position the organization for short and long-term success. Under the direction of the Director and AVP, support and drive initiatives through project management, structured data analysis, and development of final deliverables.

Job Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning




  • Organize and support planning efforts for Duke Health business units or system-wide initiatives
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop multi-year strategic plans (usually clinical, but may include research or education) and annual work plans with goals, relevant data analysis, volume targets, and measures of success
  • Develop strategic plans, operational plans and/or business plans needed to achieve organizational goals (with a focus on growth-related goals)
  • Conduct analysis to identify and recommend new program development and business opportunities



Market and Data Analysis




  • Conduct structured analysis of quantitative and qualitative data to generate key insights that inform guide decision-making for service lines, departments, strategic markets, affiliations, and other organizational entities
  • Collect and analyze financial, clinical, and market data needed for planning, collaborating with leadership in hospitals, service lines, Marketing, Finance, Performance Services, and payor-related departments
  • Monitor local, regional, and national trends to identify emerging opportunities and potential threats for Duke Health and its business units


Project Management




  • Develop and manage project plans for long and short term projects, providing updates to relevant leaders and flagging potential barriers
  • Assess departmental project management needs and recommend tools and processes to manage requests and deadlines effectively



Institutional and Divisional Support




  • Meet regularly with the Director, AVP, and team members to review project progress and set priorities
  • Maintain strong relationships with administrative and clinical colleagues across the system to ensure alignment between strategy, planning, and operations
  • Support the ongoing review and refinement of the enterprise strategic plan, including necessary analytics to understand monitor performance
  • Support the development and maintenance of strategic planning data sources, tools, and reports for departmental and organizational leaders



Perform other related duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications



Education

Bachelor's degree in a business or healthcare field required (Master's degree very strongly preferred)



Experience

Five+ years of experience in fields such as hospital/provider strategic planning, business planning, marketing planning, operations planning, market research, and quantitative/financial analysis.

Core competencies include: collaboration and team building skills, leadership skills, excellent planning and organizational skills, effective and efficient decision-making skills, and strong analysis and judgment skills.

Excellent written and oral communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability to be effective in a matrix management organization.

OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE



Degrees, Licensures, Certifications

Must maintain compliance with all mandatory DUHS policies, training, and health/safety requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Must be able to achieve results in a large, complex organization. Highly developed verbal, written, and analytical skills. Group facilitation and presentation skills. Must be able to manage multiple projects and processes simultaneously. Self-motivation and the ability to perform with minimal supervision.
