Job Description

The Analyst on the National Laboratory Operations Excellence team provides project support and analytical insights to drive decision-making for national laboratory operations initiatives. This role supports automation projects that drive growth, standardization and operational excellence, and consults with national, regional and esoteric laboratory teams on technical topics.

This role is a position on the National Laboratory Operations team supporting the Automation and Technology area within the team.

The position is considered Near Site with Travel up to 75% of the time, and qualified candidates near a Quest laboratory location can be considered.



Responsibilities:

Responsibilities can include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support standardization of laboratory operations and common processes for testing strategies, and/or specimen management
  • Provide root-cause analysis and recommendations for operational performance improvements for regional and esoteric operations leadership teams
  • Occasionally leads and supports project work in partnership with National Laboratory Operations Project Managers and Directors.
  • Analyze lab operations data and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Ensure timely delivery of insights to support decision-making for project managers and leadership.
  • Extract, clean, and analyze lab data (e.g., turnaround times, throughput, error and TNP rates)
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and KPI reports for leadership review.
  • Partner with IT and LIS teams to resolve data integrity and system integration issues.
  • Act as a liaison between national leaders, Operations and IT to drive requirements and standard laboratory operations.

Automation & Robotics Integration Focus:

  • Analyze the performance, utilization, and impact of robotic process automation and robotics systems deployed within laboratory and operational environments.
  • Support the integration and scaling of automation technologies by providing data-driven recommendations on system deployment, workflow optimization, and potential integration points with existing and future LIS and enterprise applications.
  • Partner closely with the Enterprise Automation Team members and IT to validate and ensure the data integrity and seamless operation of integrated robotics and automation solution with existing and future LIS system.


Qualifications:

Required WorkExperience:

  • Minimum of 5 years' related work experience, preferably in a clinical laboratory environment.
  • Technical experience in standard LIS functionality, instrument interface use, workflow management, and/or enterprise automation/robotics systems.
  • Process improvement - understanding of process flow in the context of automated systems design.
  • Experience with LIS data and workflows.
  • Demonstrated past experience working with and supporting automation systems (e.g., RPA, laboratory automation, LIS integration, etc.).

Preferred Work Experience:

  • Proficiency in SQL/databases and BI tools (Tableau, Power BI).
  • Direct experience with the analysis, deployment, or integration of automation technologies (e.g., automation tech, laboratory robotics, or other automated systems).

Skills:

  • Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel and MS project.
  • Excellent proficiency in Power Bi and Tableau dashboard
  • Ability to cultivate operations/IT relationship and encourage a collaborative environment to achieve goals, especially in complex automation deployment projects.
  • Exceptional ability in complex data analysis, statistical modeling, and root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to translate data into actionable recommendations.
  • Proven experience building effective dashboards and reports using Power BI.
  • Technical expertise with LIS/IT systems and an aptitude for learning new automation platforms.
  • Effective communicator of insights to non-technical stakeholders.

Required:

  • Travel between 50-75%

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in science, engineering, business, IT, or analytics strongly preferred.
