Department Summary

UNT Dallas College of Law's faculty support department provides administrative, operational, and sometimes technical assistance to faculty members to help them effectively perform their teaching, research, and administrative duties. Services often include managing complex administrative tasks, supporting faculty development through workshops and resources, coordinating logistics for meetings and events, assisting with research-related tasks, and acting as a liaison for information and problem-solving.

Position Overview

The Administrative Coordinator is the first point of contact for all UNT Dallas College of Law students, visitors and guests who visit the faculty administrative offices. The Administrative Coordinator serves as the administrative assistant to the UNT Dallas College of Law full-time and part-time professors. This position is responsible for providing secretarial, clerical, and administrative support in order to ensure that customer service is provided in an effective and efficient manner. This position is responsible for administrative support that includes completing travel vouchers, typing various types of correspondence, data compilation, reporting, and complex calendaring/scheduling, and assisting faculty with the creation and administration of course examinations and other assessments. This position serves as the Lead for the Faculty Support Department for UNT Dallas College of Law.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's and one year of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of general office procedures and practices. Knowledge of University policies and procedures related to the area of assignment. Skill in making mathematical calculations and computations. Ability to keep complex records; to assemble and organize data of complex nature, and to prepare and submit reports in acceptable formats. Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing. Ability to work without close supervision. Knowledge of safe working procedures related to work performed.

Preferred Qualifications

The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications: Bachelors Degree in related field and 5 years of progressively responsible office administration experience Previous University/College Office Administration experience Exceptional Customer service skills Knowledge of Canvas Knowledge of Examsoft Considerable knowledge of university policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate) Strong problem solving skills Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships Ability to work independently Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed

Required License/Registration/Certifications

Job Duties



  • Serves as a backup to other administrative assistants. Facilitates problem solving for appropriate college personnel as required. Perform related duties as required.
  • Reviews communications of various types and refers to appropriate department, faculty or staff for disposition. Coordinates executive communications, including those requiring a high degree of security and sensitivity.
  • Assists the Associate Dean and faculty with preparing lecture materials, reports, and responses to official inquiries from internal and external constituencies.
  • Manages travel arrangements and expenses for the Associate Dean, and all fulltime UNT Dallas College of Law and faculty members.
  • Assists faculty with Learning Management System, testing software, and other software as necessary.
  • Maintains complex calendars and schedules appointments.
  • Answers, directs, and relays telephone, fax, and email messages to the appropriate persons.
  • Creates and maintains department filing system.
  • Will cross train other administrative personnel to master software and operating systems.
  • Assists with the planning and execution of College of Law special events. Organizes meetings and assists with special event logistics including room assignment; announcement, invitation, handout preparation and distribution; catering and logistical arrangements.
  • Orders, monitors and maintains adequate levels of office supplies and administrative materials; makes other purchases as needed.
