McKesson Medical-Surgical is seeking a strategic and technically adeptDirector of Finance Data & BIin Richmond, VA to lead a high-impact team responsible for transforming financial data into actionable insights. This role is pivotal in advancing the data foundation, business intelligence, and insights initiatives in collaboration with the broader MMS Finance and IT organizations to build enterprise-grade finance data solutions. This leader will continue to develop and evolve the Finance data team's capabilities to match the transformational needs of McKesson Medical-Surgical into the future.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the data team (BI analysts, data engineer/architect)
  • Foster a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular one-on-ones, performance reviews, and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Responsible for ongoing data quality, compliance and data solution cost-optimization.

Business Intelligence & Analysis Process Management

  • Manage the end-to-end data flow from acquisition and transformation to presentation and consumption.
  • Assign projects and tasks to team members based on their skills and the requirements of specific use cases.
  • Review and validate team outputs to ensure accuracy, relevance, and satisfaction of stakeholder requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and comfort working with less than perfect data, raw sources, changing priorities, or quick turnarounds.

Data Ingestion Management

  • Oversee the entire data ingestion process, ensuring data is accurately and efficiently collected from various sources.
  • Implement best practices for data ingestion, including data validation, cleaning, transformation, and governance.
  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with SOX and other regulatory requirements.

Data Transformation and Asset Creation

  • Develop processes and methodologies to transform unclean and raw data into valuable data assets.
  • Guide the team in building robust data assets that feed into business intelligence, automation, data science, or other downstream systems.
  • Ensure the creation of high-quality, well-documented, well-governed data sets that are ready for analysis and modeling.
  • Guide tool usage based on the strategic tech stack to ensure best overall support for data asset creation

Strategic Planning

  • Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for the Finance data and engineering function that best supports business value delivery.
  • Align data initiatives with the overall business goals, use case priority and team capacity.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovations.

Collaboration and Communication

  • Collaborate with other departments to understand data needs and ensure data solutions meet customer requirements.
  • Ensure solution and data architectures follow the enterprise architecture and governance standards.
  • Communicate complex data-related concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Present findings and insights to leadership teams to inform strategic decisions.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent experience. Typically requires 12+ years of professional experience and 4+ years of management experience.

  • 5 years of experience delivering enterprise-grade data integration, analysis, and/or analytics using a mix of SQL, Python, PowerBI, or similar

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science, information systems, or a related field preferred; Master's degree is a plus.

  • 10+ years of relevant work experience, with 5+ years of direct leadership and people motivation skills (or equivalent experience)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to tailor information to different audiences
  • Supported one or more enterprise-scale analytics functions (Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, Procurement, Pricing, Product, etc.)
  • Experience modeling enterprise financial data for reporting, insights, and data science.
  • Applied experience delivering cost-optimized data solutions using one or more of the following enterprise data platforms (AWS, Azure, Databricks, Snowflake, Google Cloud)
  • Designed and implemented integration with enterprise applications (e.g.; Oracle, SAP)
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or other regulated industries
  • Experience operating within an agile project delivery framework (e.g.; scrum)

This is determined by several factors, including performance, experience and skills, equity, regular job market evaluations, and geographical markets. The pay range shown below is aligned with McKesson's pay philosophy, and pay will always be compliant with any applicable regulations. Our Base Pay Range for this position

$130,500 - $217,500
